Latest f-35 demo.

Pay attention to the ability to point its nose at 11:28. Only thrust vectoring aircraft can do that.

Got to give props to the pilots 70's stache.

Two shots of mine from last year:

I figured it would be more maneuverable than it appears here. It's pretty cool at around 3:30 but it seems like even the SU-30 is more agile and the SU-57 looks to be far superior in most aspects.

Ftr, I think the F-22 is superior to anything else.

I'm also no expert. Open to other viewpoints in an effort to change my mind.

We have the first, second and third best fighter aircraft in the world. The best pilots. The best support crew. And, the most of all the above.

If we were an evil country we could conquer the world in 2 weeks.

All you gotta do is have one of those bad boys fly over at about 1000 ft. No more explanation needed.

It's not meant to be super-maneuverable. The concept is that the advanced electronics and stealth will give it a big enough advantage that it doesn't really have to dogfight.

Please tell me again where I compared anything but this plane to a couple of others?

The SU-57 is stealth and is set to be delivered this year to the Russian Air Force. It has an exposed fuselage so I'm not sure just how stealth it really is. China is also touting a 5 gen fighter but it remains to be seen if it is real or not.

I still think the F-22 would beat any of these handily. Older electronics or no.

In trials it beat 5 f15s at once and they never knew it was there. The f15 pilots said they were very happy it was our hardware.

So defensive. Perhaps you should stop playing devils advocate so much that people can't see that's what you're doing. They've profiled you as a leftist loon. Something that’s important to remember is that the f-35 is the first combat aircraft in the world to have entirely digital avionics. Add to this the fact the original avionics suite was scrapped when airframes were nearly ready to fly, and you have an aircraft that is still seriously limited by the speed at which its avionics developer can write code for it. Security limitations are the biggest issue. Most large scale coding projects are farmed out piecemeal over a large group of coders. That’s not practical in this case.

Additionally, the US beurocratic machine builds in paranoia about foreign developments relative to our own. During the Cold War, we routinely had to listen to defense analysts talk up Soviet developments while downplaying American developments. It turns out American technology almost always outclassed our Soviet opponents. For example, Soviet ships advertised as capable of “about 38 knots” rarely exceeded 32, while American warships advertised as “capable of about 30 knots” frequently operated at 36+.

Times and technology has changed, but beurocracy has not. The two countries are still essentially lying about their technology. The Russians because they want export orders, and the Americans because they don’t want foreign nations to know the technological limits of our equipment.

There's no defensiveness. It's the internet. What are they gonna do, come tell everyone on me for making the observation I did?

I received a reply that in no way matched the content of what I said. It seemed to imply that I was insinuating that my estimation that there are Russian planes with superior maneuverability meant that the Russian aircraft, pilots, and crew are superior. I didn't mention anything but maneuverability and even stated that I believe that the F22 is superior to anything else. So the reply that I got seemed to indicate that I was implying something that I wasnt. I simply asked them to point out where I was insinuating what they seemed to be insinuating I was insinuating.

I'm about as leftist as some of you are good at reading comprehension.

It's the internet. I'll play devil's advocate as much and as often as I choose.

I wasn't playing devil's advocate here so why the compulsive need to tell someone else what and how to do their own thing?

Perhaps you should stop telling anyone else how they should be when they know your own example IRL is rife with contradiction?
