Even independents who did not like Clinton backed him when they felt Republicans were trying to railroad him out of office for political reasons.

Unsure why anyone has an issue with this. Just because he's under investigation doesn't mean he's going to be indicted. From everything I've read, Kushner has been totally cooperative so this should reach a resolution efficiently.

I mean goods that the American people view as legit.

I didn't vote for him, he is often cringeworthy, and Pence is more my type of guy, but even so this all seems like a slow-moving coup against the legitimately elected President is underway.

They'll have to convince a lot of people that removing him is legit. I don't think saying "I hope" to Comey is going to do it.
