David Bailey and Crystal Griner are
Capitol Police Special Agents on Protective Duty.
Now's a good as place as any, I imagine.
Years ago when I worked for Congress I worked for now disgraced Speaker Denny Hastert. (I've also worked for disgraced Illinois Gov. George Ryan. WTF. No wonder I left politics.)
While I worked with Denny I had consistent interactions with Capitol Police officers and Special Agents, included spending many long and stupidly boring hours with them at campaign and work events. I got to know the Special Agents very well, or at least as well as a mid-20 something political hack could get to know professional federal law enforcement officers I guess.
Every single action, every single word, every single minute of advance work was of the highest quality. Only time I ever saw any of them let their guard down in the slightest would be when we where at the Hastert's relatively private residence in a smaller Illinois town and Denny's wife Jean would bring coffee or lemonade out to the agents in their Tahoes and Suburbans. Even then it was at 99.99% radar up.
Not sure where I am going with this, but it's a good reminder sometimes of the realities of police work; 99% boredom, 1% near death experience.
