NYT's erroneously linked Giffords shooter to Sarah Palin
In their attempt to take the heat off the libturds, the NYT published a story that linked Gabby Giffords shooter's inspiration to a map circulated by Sarah Palin.

The New York Times was forced on Thursday to correct an editorial that stated as fact a debunked theory that the gunman who shot Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in 2011 was inspired by a map circulated by Sarah Palin.

after Scalise shooting

What can be done to better protect lawmakers?
The New York Times was forced on Thursday to correct an editorial that stated as fact a debunked theory that the gunman who shot Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in 2011 was inspired by a map circulated by Sarah Palin.

The editorial, titled “America’s Lethal Politics,” was posted Wednesday and widely criticized on social media. The editorial read in part:

“Was this attack evidence of how vicious American politics has become? Probably. In 2011, when Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl, the link to political incitement was clear. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map of targeted electoral districts that put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.”

They then had to post a correction, but not after their little grubers fell for it.

Correction: June 15, 2017

An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established.

RE: NYT's erroneously linked Giffords shooter to Sarah Palin
Remember this post-election letter from the Times to its readers?

To Our Readers, From the Publisher and Executive Editor
NOV. 13, 2016

This statement jumps out:
Quote:As we reflect on the momentous result, and the months of reporting and polling that preceded it, we aim to rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism. That is to report America and the world honestly, without fear or favor, striving always to understand and reflect all political perspectives and life experiences in the stories that we bring to you.

As circulation declined and their bias was being exposed and mocked, they decided it was time to return to honesty.

Of course, it didn't last long as we're seven months removed.

We got an important fact wrong, incorrectly linking political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Giffords. No link was ever established.
