Mike and mike just said they are releasing the report at 11am. Included apparently will be actions taken against the school.

Expectations?

Mine remain the same. The NCAA will accept the self imposed penalties & add a 5 game suspension to Pitino & possibly take away 1 or 2 more scholies. If so then I think this is over today. Announcement coming at 11.

Additional penalties.

* Pitino has been suspended for the first 5 ACC games.

* McGee hit with a 10 year show cause penalty.

* Vacation off records of games that included ineligible players from Dec 2010 till July 2014. Banners?

* 4 year probation from 2017-21.

It appears to be in jeopardy but how do you remove a banner with no "lack of institutional control" & the NCAA doesn't see the violations sever enough to warrant more than a 5 game suspension for Pitino? The UofL will have a press conference at noon & we should find out more details. This is potentially a Final 4 & a championship banner.

Jay Bilas just said on sportscenter they are leaning towards bringing the championship banner down and the final four banner.

Wikipedia has already done so.

RE: Louisville Scandel
I despise the NCAA's use of vacating wins. I get it is actually a smaller penalty than other things, but to me it feels like rewriting history and messing with the record books. If you won a national championship, game, etc, you won it. If something was improper and you find it years later, add a penalty if need be, but stop messing with the record books. I hate having to distinguish between real and official stats.

It's the fakest "penalty" the NCAA can give. I'd try to have all of my punishments be in vacated wins whenever I get penalized.

This potentially vacates 108 regular season wins & 15 postseason wins, including banners. If these players were deemed ineligible at the time, they could have had their eligibility restored.

Louisville has announced that they will appeal the penalties, calling them "excessive."

Also from the NCAA report today;

"No one who was interviewed during the investigation provided any information showing that the head coach was aware of the stripteases and prostitution. In fact, the prospects and student-athletes enrolled made it a point not to talk about the incidents. Even those that said that they were unaware if the activities were NCAA rules violations did not want the coaches or their parents to find out. As one prospect put it, "I didn't want to deal with the consequences." The prospect and enrolled student-athletes all knew that if the head coach became aware of the incidents, he would have -as one put it- "flipped out."

Obstruction does seem to be the best response to an NCAA investigation.

Ville your penalties seem similar to Cuse's.

It'll knock you back a step...but you will recover just like I expect we will.

So, what did I miss? Why are players ineligible? Is it because of the prostitutes?

JB won his appeal on having his suspension start immediately instead of with ACC play. If the NCAA is consistent, that will be at least 1 successful appeal for UofL. I agree with the other penalties but not the removal of the banners based on what the NCAA has revealed from their investigation.

Who are the ineligeble players, never have seen that list. If They didnt play, are those games to remain ? I remember several times some players were suspended with no reason given other than team violations.

Supposedly, according to the book, it was Chan, Russ & Trez. The actual names haven't been made public so these names are just speculative/rumors.
