Tubby wants to help Saul rehabilitate his career. If he takes him off the road that will just be another setback. I don't see that happening.

If Saul needs to learn and rehabilitate go work for his brother as an assistant...Either Saul or Pooh need to get out there and work the recruiting trail OR one of them needs to move over.

What does Pooh dooh? I haven't determined that yet, but I haven't been looking that hard. I know that Joe combs JUCOville and Saul searches for under the radar talent.

Who got the three incoming freshmen? Was it a combination of Pooh and Joe?

Maybe so. If I'm guessing, I'm going with Joe...because he's a Joe getter.

According to Tubby, Pooh is in charge of local recruiting, so all the local recruits coming in this season are Pooh's. But, Tubby also said no one gets credit, they all share it. So if Joe works his tail off and lands 5 recruits, Pooh and Saul get credit as well. If Saul and Pooh don't get a single recruit, well, they still get credit for Joe's recruits. It is a pretty crappy system IMO.

After losing a head to head battle with a Bible College, Orlando wants to move Saul someplace where he is not visible. To hide him from the school administrators and boosters and save his job.

Honestly the only thing that will cost Tubby his job doesn't happen until November...

The admin doesn't care if he has Winnie the Pooh as an assitant if he wins and puts butts in the seats. Canning Saul and losing and he is still in trouble. Honestly Tubby has expectations so low right now that he is in a good place, if this team is on the bubble at the end of the year and he has a top 40 recruiting class people will begin to start believing again.

Sad state of affairs but it is what it is right now.

There it is... in bold and white.

A masterful lowering of what Memphis should expect, because Memphis is not a 'player'. lol.

But it's difficult to like that kind of relationship--the kind where the person says he/she is the one, because you aren't worth anyone better. lol.

I know people are going to say let it play out and see what happens. Of course, that's what we are going to do, but we get to comment along the way...don't we? lol

Norvell is in the opposite situation...

And I am still on the fence about Norvell...He seems to be capable but I don't know if last years team was all him or if there were good leaders left from the previous squad. This year will tell a lot and Norvell's honeymoon will be over if he wins 7 or less games and that will be unfair.

Was speaking of saving Saul's job. A few more screw ups like he had this time around and the boosters and school officials would be demanding that Orlando let Saul go.

The pronouns Him and His in the final sentence referred to Saul.

Actually, Tubby has not lowered expectations. He said we will be a "very good team" next year. A reasonable expectation for a very good team is advancement - barring upset -in the NCAA Tourney.

Many fans disagree with Tubby. They expect a rough year or are in a wait and see mode.

And - IMO - discussion about our team's and coach's performance next season in all sports are appropriate subjects on a messageboard dedicated to posts about Tiger athletics.

My guess is everyone keeps their current role and the new guy comes in as recruiting coordinator/player development. I don't know what responsibilities everyone will have.
