Literally all of our points are from the football championship. We have no other points but are eighth best overall.

Only those inside the bubble would place so much more value on an FCS championship versus an end of year top 25 ranking. Does anyone (who isn't a JMU employee) really think from a "national" program success standpoint an FCS championship is worth 60 pts and an FBS 11-25 finish isn't worth any?

Our lady programs are much more successful on a national level than the men's and they didn't register any points.

Last year JMU would have had the highest budget in Conference USA, MAC, Sun Belt, 4th highest in the Mountain West, 5th highest in the AAC.

About 25% of JMU's athletic budget is stuff many other institutions don't count, like debt services & other infrastructure related costs, band, spirit groups, services paid by the athletic dept to the univ for various stuff, etc. JMU could do some fancy accounting and instantaneously make the budget 20-25% smaller. Ta da!

So any overall athletic budget comparison to other schools that are using different accounting practices are like pre season polls. About as worthless as titties on a bull.

The "JMU counts stuff other schools don't" argument has never had any proof behind it. Our budget is no inflated because we are counting things other schools are not. This argument has come up before and been shot down just as quickly.

JMU's budget is bigger than 48 FBS schools because JMU's budget is bigger than 48 FBS schools.

Wrong. The #s have been presented before. You just choose to ignore them.

Did you disregard all the responses in this thread? All the schools are counting debt service and the other factors you say make JMU unique. "BDK says so" is the only counter argument I've seen so far.

JMU has facilities that are nicer than most G5 programs which would explain the large facilities expense in our budget. JMU has higher student fees than most G5 programs. JMU supports olympic sports at a level G5 programs do not.

1) Why are you arguing this 2) Why is this a bad thing 3) See 1 & 2. 4) Is your point that despite the public numbers, the Carr report, conference alignment articles pointing to JMU's budget compared to G5 schools, that JMU's budget is actually smaller than those FBS programs?
