Happy 93rd birthday President George H.W. Bush
Well it's tomorrow so happy early 93rd birthday. He'll become the third ex-president ever to hit 93 - both Ford and Reagan died while 93. Jimmy Carter can become the 4th to hit that age later this year. Only two presidents (John Adams and Hoover) ever made it to 90 before the modern era.

Happy belated 92nd birthday to Barbara Bush too (last week she turned 92). And most amazing of all, they've been married 72 years which is far and away a record for a first couple.

The White House is no place for saints, but HW always struck me as a warm, kind-hearted man. When he was readmitted into the hospital a few months ago I was concerned that he'd take a turn for the worse, good for him to make it to 93.

It's funny how some people are so happy that others die at a very old age but mostly it's because they're not the ones that are caring for them. My MIL is 86 and living with us and let me tell you it's no picnic...and she doesn't want to die because for every little pain or bother she wants to go to the doc. Don't get me wrong, I love my MIL but it's a Love-Hate relationship. I love her but I hate that she's living with us. Talk about a change in our lifestyle. And don't say to place her in a nursing home, Mexicans don't like doing that to their relatives unless it's absolutely necessary, sigh.

My mom bless her heart would always tells us that she didn't want to last a long time and she got her wish, she died at 73 and if I keel over at that age it'll be fine with me. MOST people don't want to be anyone's pain in the butt. As the Mexican saying goes, " el muerto y el arimado comienzan a oler despues de 3 dias"- the dead and the houseguest start to smell after 3 days. How true.

So at my next birthday in 7 days don't wish me a long life, LOL, I'll be 69. I don't want to be anyone's pain in the ass. When the time comes that I can't clean my own S O then I think it'll be time.

Sorry guys but I had to vent. BIG SIGH.
