Marcus Keene Thoughts
Hey everyone! I wrote a little column at Read Fieldhouse on Keene's going pro. Give it a read if you feel so inclined!

Also, does anyone know what the active CMU board is these days? I'd like to share it over there too, but I don't know which site people actually use.

The premise that Keene was playing for "free" when he was on scholarship covering tuition, room and board is irresponsible.

That said, it's CMU. Not worth much even to its graduates.

Keene had one good year in a gimmicky offense, and plays horrible defense. He's not ready for professional basketball.

Apparently, he can't stand Mount Pleasant and the CMU culture. Can't blame him for being eager to leave.

The fact that his tuition, room and board are covered is definitely significant. I thought I addressed that sufficiently in the article. However, from an economic perspective, he would undeniably be selling his labor at below market value if he returned to Central. There are certainly countless other factors, but it's important to establish and acknowledge the economic facts.

Also he had one historic year in an offense that resembles the NBA in terms of what guards are asked to do. He can do some things that pro scouts like in a PG. He is probably not going to be an NBA guy, but there will be professional suitors willing to pay a lot better than CMU.
