One must remember OP/MSU's SEC stadiums held just about the same as our'n back in 1976....

We later added 3,000 end zone and luxury box seats to make 36,000+ capacity.

State only held 31k back then, om about 40

True, true. But ECU has the naming rights.

I was at that first game at Apogee Stadium against UH. It was hot as all get out and we got the L, but ill never forget it. Fout's field sucked so bad that Apogee was a dream.

RE: First Game At Your Stadium
After the renovation in 2012 we hosted and got destroyed by Texas Tech in front of 32,000. That was my senior year, our first FBS season, and the season that I finally cared about TXST football (especially after we embarrassed Houston) but I couldn't make it to the game because my gf at the time was having surgery. The crowd/atmosphere looked pretty amazing on TV though.

It was my freshman year and a great memory as we won 36-21. Students camped out for tickets, Thomas DeMarco made his debut, and our little football program made its statement that we were here to stay. It was the beginning of the great tradition that was ODU football.

Little did any of us Monarch fans know, the ODU football team would join the FBS in CUSA 5 years later, and won our first bowl game in 2016. We've sold out every home game, and have kept up a winning tradition.

I don't remember the team Tech played. It was Terry Bradshaw's senior year.

That is quite an accomplishment.

Charlotte 52
Campbell 7

I will never forget that day. Not just the first game at Jerry Richardson Stadium, but also the first game in Charlotte 49er football history. In front of a standing room only crowd of 16,600 (plus another coupe of hundred watching from outside the stadium including from classroom building ledges up the hill), Charlotte's Mark Hogan scored on the 2nd play from scrimmage, a pick 6, 46 seconds into the game. The crowd, already amped up, lost its mind, as did our radio play by play crew. It was a day years, maybe even decades in the making, and the 49ers didn't disappoint, easily dispatching the Mike Minter coached Camels.

RE: First Game At Your Stadium
Legion Field opened on November 19, 1927 when 16,800 fans watch Samford (then Howard) defeat Birmingham-Southern 9-0.

There had been club games, but UAB's first NCAA DIII game at Legion Field was September 4, 1991 against Evangel. Blazers lost 10-28 in front of 5,132 fans.
