Does look close. I visited the campus years back and I recall there being a lot of room on that end of the field. Wasn't it possible to have more room for the end zone facility?

The facility uses up all of that space.

Here's some interesting tidbits:

Georgia State will have the largest video board in the Sun Belt, as well as the largest in the G5. They actually have the 10th largest video board in the entire FBS at 5,600 sq. ft. of actual video space.

Troy will have the second-largest video board in the Sun Belt at 3,150 sq. ft., to go along with the 1,250 sq. ft. video board on the opposite side of the stadium.

Both Troy and Georgia State will have the largest primary video boards out of the Sun Belt, CUSA, and MAC.

Largest video boards in G5 by video space sq. ft.:

1. Georgia State - 5,600
2. Memphis - 4,512
3. Colorado State - 4,200
4. UCF - 4,104
5. Cincinnati - 3,534
6. Troy - 3,150

Depends on if you want quantity or quality. GA State's board extremely old technology and has a ton of missing pixels. When we played there in November it was like looking at swiss cheese. I'll take App's new board any day.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Mar. 1, 2017 – Appalachian State University has selected Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to provide two new integrated LED video systems for Kidd Brewer Stadium and George M. Holmes Convocation Center on campus in Boone, North Carolina. Kidd Brewer Stadium will also be receiving new ribbon displays and a custom audio system integrated with the video system.

Kidd Brewer Stadium's display will be the largest in the Group of Five at approximately 2,500 square feet to feature 13HD technology, the same technology featured in football venues for Duke University, University of South Carolina and professional football's Carolina Panthers.

In the stadium, the overall scoreboard will measure 50 feet high by 90 feet wide with the new LED display will measuring more than 37 feet high by 67 feet wide. The display will include more than two million LEDs and will feature a 13HD pixel layout for crisp, clear imagery with wide angle visibility and industry-leading environmental protection. The ribbon displays will be installed along the seating fascia on each sideline measuring 3 feet high and nearly stretching from end zone to end zone at 222 feet long.

Integrated into the video and scoring system at Kidd Brewer Stadium, Daktronics will be providing a custom audio system to bring booming sound and clear, intelligible speech to audiences at every event. The system combines loudspeakers in targeted clusters with front-end audio processing components and amplifiers to create a complete audio experience.

I wish Troy had a local sugar daddy. The state is definitely not contributing. It's mainly general contributions and the like.

You have a point. GSU's board was looking rough for the Troy game as well. Hopefully they'll get around to working on it. They obviously had other priorities getting the whole stadium ready for the season.

Troy's board (like App's) will be closer to the warm bodies in seats as well. You have to look at folks walking beneath in the attached image to get some perspetive of how large our new board is.... I honestly think it is too large.

We have done well at Troy in facilities. All of our facilities are among the best in the conference.

The end zone project is something that should have happened 7-10 years ago when it was first announced, however short comings from a previous AD and it didn’t happen. Our current and Last AD have done well getting money up for facilities.

I was in Troy just after the stadium was expanded and down for the game in '16. Really like what you guys did with the expansion and considering the two stadiums were initially identical, wish App had copied what y'all did. I was fortunate enough to sit in the suites and visit with your AD and President, so I got a good look at inside the pressbox. Love the ice cream sandwiches at halftime! Have been everywhere except Texas St, USA and A State and have to say with the addition of your new basketball arena Troy definitely has some of the best facilties in the conference. This endzone building will only enhance them

I think it costs us $24M but the total product value is closer to $30M, they did a great job in negotiating this whole deal. Also, you can build this facility for $24M in Lower Alabama, not sure what it would cost building sth like this in CA, FL, or even TX...(?)

This is a sharp looking addition and an attractive looking stadium.

I look forward to visiting one day.

Yep! You know if there's free food to be had, esp ice cream, Wayne won't be far away! After the Boone DQ closed I told people it was because Wayne went on a diet.

Do you know this for a fact? We could also build sth similar to UAB's practice facility (should save us some cost) but I would prefer building a proper facility and interconnect the entire complex.

No I don't, but it would only make sense in my opinion.

I'm not sure. It matches all of the other architecture on campus.
