The new construction photo looks awfully close to the end zone. How far back from the back end zone does it sit?

That's the intention. Troy's stadium is designed to be sort of "in-your-face" for opponents. The facility won't be any closer to the field than the south end zone seating if you look at how close it is to the field.

Looks really good! I really like the "closed in" feeling it presents. What are the plans for this season? Some type of tarp or padding to enclose it during games?

The original KBS (then Conrad Stadium) and Troy's original stadium were identical. Didn't you tear down the original side opposite the pressbox and move it closer to the field? Is the new lower section taller than the other side? This is exactly what App needs to do to the bank. How many seats are in that endzone including the corner sections?

The stadium as a whole seats 30,000.

If the two sides seat roughly the same amount (albeit the home side upper deck is a little larger), I would have to think the end zone area seats around 4,000 +/-.

Also the new facility will be about where the sidewalk is behind the end zone, which is a good 10 feet from the field.

Yes, the opposite side was completely torn down. When Troy got rid of the track around the football field, they brought the opposite side closer to the field. The opposite lower section seems taller than the pressbox lower section, but I'm not completely sure. I would guess the endzone seating added between 4,000 to 5,000 additional seats.
The rebuild of the lower section and upper deck on the opposite end added seats also, as well as the removal of the old pressbox that cut into the large upperdeck. Before the stadium was renovated, it had 17,500 capacity. So quite a but of seating was added.

Video board steel up.... Stole this from Troyfans.com

3,150 sq Foot board. Largest in conference. One opposite end zone will stay as well

Just to help you see how big it is, this picture was taken from the road outside of the South Endzone Gates. The video board in the picture is being mounted all the way in the North Endzone on top of the new facility.

Also to put this into perspective, Appalachian State currently has the largest video board in the G5 at 2,500 sq. ft. of video space (according to Daktronics). Troy's video board will have 3,150 sq. ft. of video space, which will be the largest in the G5 by a lot, and probably top 30 out of all college football stadiums.

This thing is bigger than it looked in renderings.

The picture was taken from the old basketball arena. That’s how far off it is and clearly you will be able to see what’s happening from there.

Do you know how big the one at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis is? I do not, just curious. They are in the G5, and that structure is fairly massive

Liberty Bowl is over 4,000 sq ft.

So Troy may be 2nd in the G5 and App State 3rd, unless bigger boards have gone up in the past year.

I will never understand the measuring contest on the video boards. My feeling is, watch the game, if you miss it, is the board big enough for me to see the replay clearly? If so, that's big enough. Guess I'm an old fart.

If you remember we did the same thing when we upgraded our board.
