If the foundation is supposed to be "separate" from the school (my understanding is these things have to be separate entities, as much as is possible), how much involvement can the AD actually have?

Those of us "on the outside looking in" are always at a disadvantage when those with "inside info" can speak more knowledgeably on such topics. We just "don't know what we don't know" as a UAB catch phrase puts it.

What appears evident is that the battle for UAB football is far from over, and the AD is an important pivot point for administrative control. Right now the "war" is going in our favor, but in this state's economy, nothing can be taken for granted. Post Secondary funding from the SETF has been held "flat lined" for the last 5 years. At some point that "piper must be paid" by raising funding or cutting nonmedical undergrad programs. There is a limit to how much one can "rob Peter to pay Paul".
