Speaking of underfunded baseball programs Davidson only funds 3 scholarships and they are playing in the Super Regionals today against Texas A&M. With that being said what they have done in the tournament so far has been completely unexpected.

RE: So let's assume that Coach Skole is gone.......
I just saw the posting for the Tennis Coach opening. I don't know what the salary was before, but the posting lists it at $60,000. Also, one of the qualifications is two years of Division 1 coaching experience.

I will be interested to see if they put that same qualification on the baseball opening. That would disqualify most of the JuCo coaches who have been mentioned.

I still hope that we go with a young, up and coming D1 assistant who can bring a new recruiting mentality and develop our players.

The timing may just be right if Sander and Co can get close with the salary. Not at liberty to give out the name at present but can say for sure there is interest.

Well my guess with those clues would be Jeff Reed
though kind of hope not, not sure being a hitting coach for a rookie league team would make him a good college coach. I mean I guess he is used to dealing with that age group.

Not sure if Jeff would have interest or not, but that is not the person I was speaking of. This person has a well rounded background including head coaching experience at HS, College, and has worked with all levels of pro baseball from rookies and #1 draft picks all the way to the major league all-stars. He also has closer ties to ETSU. That's all I am at liberty to say at the moment.

The AD just posted this response about ETSU not funding the full allotment of scholarships for baseball

Dr. Sander's transparency and communication with fans continues to impress me.

Absolutely. We've got it good right now, and I think most of us know it.

The letter also said "along with a great facility that will be enhanced this summer". I wonder what that will be? Locker rooms?

I think back and have to smirk a little bit at some of the previous posters on this board that were unsure whether we should get rid of Bartow and Mullins, because "who is out there that could do a better job?" Haha

Here is the article that ETSU is disputing:

http://www.postandcourier.com/sports/cit...user-share

This had to come from Skole right? How would a Charleston writer have any insight into how man scholarships ETSU gives.

Kind of strange.

The author is saying on Twitter he got the information from the ETSU SID and has updated the article. Very weird.

Hell I would almost say it came from this board since that is the only place I have seen/heard the 5 scholarship thing when reality is pretty much FULLY funded.

I really never understood why they would have so few scholarships since so many of the kids are local/Tennessee the cost would be low.

The 5 number was a direct quote from the Charleston media, did not originate on this board.

That is true, it came from Jeff Hartsell in Charleston. He said he got the 5 scholarship number from the ETSU SID.
