2017 ACC-Big 10 Challenge Opponents
Dates and times will be announced at a later date:

Duke at Indiana
Louisville at Purdue
Michigan at North Carolina
Notre Dame at Michigan State
Miami at Minnesota
Wisconsin at Virginia
Maryland at Syracuse
Clemson at Ohio State
Iowa at Virginia Tech
Florida State at Rutgers
Illinois at Wake Forest
Northwestern at Georgia Tech
Penn State at NC State
Boston College at Nebraska

Louisville fans are surprised we didn't end up with Minny or Michigan. UofL vs Purdue is a rematch from the prior season's challenge. How often does that occur?

Pittsburgh mercifully sits out for the ACC this season.

Wow, I'm thinking 13-1 is in play for the ACC (only Clemson is really out-matched)

The Irish will be solid underdogs, not due to their expected level but because MSU is going to be in everyone's preseason Top 10, likely top 5.

IU has the "name", but Duke got a clunker when you look at expected level of play. IU likely will not even be a pre-season NCAA team, so I find that match-up puzzling.

OSU may be in shambles do to the coaching change and possibly with a new playing style that the players have to get used to. Clemson may have a chance, although I would be more comfortable if the game were at Clemson

Looks like the ACC will win this one, but there will certainly be a few tossups even though the ACC might be favored:

Michigan at North Carolina
Notre Dame at Michigan State
Miami at Minnesota
Wisconsin at Virginia
Maryland at Syracuse
Clemson at Ohio State
Iowa at Virginia Tech
Illinois at Wake Forest
Northwestern at Georgia Tech
Boston College at Nebraska

The challenge is hardly ever 1 vs 1. It is clearly massaged to get better TV match-ups.

I wouldn't write Maryland off too quickly.

Good point about Maryland.

Q: Will Wisconsin and Virginia score over 100 points COMBINED?

I believe Maryland is 0-3 now since switching to the Big Ten. Terps do have some good players returning but with Melo Trimble gone...that is a lot of scoring. It is kinda easy to write the Terps off at the moment. I'm not sure of what to make of them right now. They might not make the dance or they could get past the first weekend. But at the beginning of the year, I am not expecting a ton.

This is a good year for Pitt to sit out. We may not win 10 games next year?

That seems to be when Maryland is at their best. It seems like the more they are favored the worse they do.

Is Iowa projected to be any good this coming year? When I think college basketball, I don't think Iowa.

Somewhere in the middle i.e. 6-10ish range.

At least you didn't get Rutgers. I'm hoping to have a winning season sometime before I retire.

Thats because its Iowa. We dont think Iowa for bb or fb, but Iowa has been one of the most consistent BIG teams in both sports. Since 1980 Iowa has been to the NCAA tourny 21 times and went to 7 Sweet 16's and one final four. I believe thats more consistancy than any ACC team after Duke, UNC, Louisville and Syracuse. Iowa has been quietly, sneaky good for a long time in both sports, and is usually ranked in both sports.

You beat me to it, Iowa actually has a pretty good history in basketball.

Poor Northwestern. Feeling good about themselves after making the tournament. Then they get sent to the Thrillerdome where nobody comes out alive.
