RE: McCracken Hall
Only part of it is being demolished. The other half will be repurposed I believe.

I wonder how they are going to do that. It look like a big chunk of the building had already been taken down by the wrecking ball.

RE: McCracken Hall
Saw a blurb in the Faculty Newsletter that "new McCracken" built in 1970 as a five story addition will be demolished this year and "old McCracken" will be demolished next year. I have heard that "old M" has serious toxic issues from the old paper plant in the basement. That may have affected how the two buildings can be demolished.

Mlive says that part of the building will remain, but other sources are saying it is a complete demolition. So I'm not really sure...

Edit: I guess Bronco68 answered that question.

Good!

Like so many of the other buildings in West Campus, it looked like it belonged in mid-century Eastern Europe. U-g-l-y!

So ready for that building to be gone. It's a monstrous building and really closes off that center campus area.

Article on demolition:

McCracken was not a architecturally appealing. I'm all for preservation but not if it is an eye sore.
