Abbott calls special session - attack on LGBT persons
Among the items in the special session, House Bill 2899, which will enable the firing of all LGBT persons from all employment in Texas, public and private, and the denial of any and all services, including taxpayer provided ones, to LGBT persons.

This bill, 2899, which has the text here , removes existing protections for LGBT persons in Dallas, Austin, Plano, and many other municipalities.https://legiscan.com/TX/text/HB2899/id/1547068

https://www.texastribune.org/2017/06/06/...ouncement/

This has nothing to do with a bathroom. It has everything to do with firing Gay persons, and the use of taxpayer dollars to discriminate against LGBT persons.

I don't see the words "homosexual", "gay", "LGBT", etc anywhere in the text.

Are there any other groups that will be subjected to employment and accommodations discrimination as a result of 2899?

Nah, just massive levels of discrimination and denials of service to LGBT persons.

Call it Jane Crow...Not exactly Jim Crow, but definitely related.

All this does is not allow political subdivisions to redefine 'protected class' without the acquiescence of the state...

which of course makes sense... otherwise 'Montrose' or some other such district could redefine the term and then force businesses who do ANY business there to obey THEIR laws...

What Tom ignores is that this also doesn't allow Mt Carmel to do the opposite.

This has nothing to do with a bathroom. It has everything to do with firing Gay persons, and the use of taxpayer dollars to discriminate against LGBT persons.

Honestly---where do you get this stuff? The law (which Im actually against for economic reasons and because it attempts to solve a problem that doesn't really exist as far as I can tell) doesn't do any of the stuff you claim. It has noting to do with employment or employment rules.

One can only hope.

Although I would kinda miss our resident shepherd boy crying wolf over the latest queer armageddon every couple of days. I mean I know it's wrong but I do find amusement in his mental instability.
