I've gotten numb to these outcomes at this point (also, the alcohol helps), but let me say this and be perfectly clear:

Whoever put Kool & the Gang's "Celebration" on the PA after the last out needs to be unemployed before he leaves the press box, but after he gets his ass chewed into a million tiny pieces and punched in the balls.

Hell of a season that I'm sure I will be able to appreciate more in a week. Performed wildly beyond anyone on here's preseason expectations. Gets the program set in the right direction and is something to build on.

It is a definite step in the right direction toward getting the program back to where Corky had it. In terms of reaching another level, still work to be done. We have a long way to go in terms of pitching. We don't have the depth or the frontline starters to get through without favorable matchups (or even with favorable matchups--as we did here).

Our best team ever just got owned by a mediocre State team with no pitching. In Hattiesburg too.

I'm a sucker and (probably) won't give up on USM baseball or USM athletics, but this will be a loss that haunts me for a very long time.

Never saw a score again that night after were ahead 5-1....went out of town next morning for 2 day business meeting...saw on ESPN that State was in the Super Regional (not surprised 'cause I figgered we couldn't hold that lead) and never looked again at TV, newspaper or on-line...

So much bettah for me health...
