Thad Matta out at OSU
He was let go today. Do we take a run at him when he gets his health issues fixed? Especially if we keep up with the mediocrity with the men's team.

Guy only got to 2 Final Fours in his time at Ohio State. (sarcasm alert).

Whether its right or wrong, coaching at most schools is a "what have you done lately" gig. He won less games each year over the past 4 or 5 seasons. Going in the wrong direction. Will be curious to see how TK does next season.

He ain't getting his health issues fixed.

And you know this how? I didn't realize you're the almighty.

He had botched surgery ten years ago, cannot raise his right foot, is in constant pain and has said numerous times that he has to live with it.

Back in the summer of 2007, the Buckeyes were fresh off a trip to the national championship game in April, led by Mike Conley and Greg Oden. Matta underwent two back surgeries, including one under emergency conditions.

Matta has lived in varying states of pain since. He's unable to remove his own socks and shoes without aid. His limping right leg is obvious when he walks, and he requires a brace to aid a foot that is not fully functional, thanks to nerve damage.

So, you are or are not the Almighty? I didn't get a clear answer from your post. If you are the Almighty, can you do something about the lighting in the Glass Bowl?

Never fear, we have Bruce Almighty...
As for Matta, I would much rather have an up and comer like Ryan Pedon, if and when TK is ever shown the door...

I feel bad for Thad. He brought OSU MBB back to respectability and I'm not an OSU Fan by any stretch of the imagination. I wish him well and hope we don't lose our MBB Coach to OSU.

I'm not worried about losing TK to OSU.

I would guess that Thad will take some time off, but his assistant coaches will need jobs if they are not retained by the new head coach. The OSU coaching staff includes former Duke player Greg Paulus and former Charlotte head coach Alan Major. Maybe one of them could fill the vacant assistant coaching job at Toledo?

The assistant coaches at OSU have been a disaster, especially Paulus.

Yeah, hard pass on the current assistants at OSU. They are not very good recruiters and struggled when Matta was limited. I'm sure Paulus will get a job somewhere thanks to Coach K (Duke) and it wouldn't surprise me if Jent went back to the NBA, where he did a much better job. Dickerson has plenty of connections in the coaching world, so I'm sure he'll land on his feet as well.

Major currently isn't an official assistant (Matta did him a solid after UNCC canned him), but he did well as Matta's top assistant before taking over at UNCC. The one worry I have about him is he has had heart trouble in the past, which led to him taking multiple leaves while he was down here. Can he handle a full-time D1 gig as a top assistant or head coach with his health history?

DR isn't the almighty, but multiple unsuccessful surgeries and very severe back issues are not easy to overcome, especially in a high-stress, high-travel job like D1 coaching.

Creighton coach a serious candidate. Didn't we lose a legacy to Creighton?

Think he means losing the recruiting war for Epperson.
