That was my first thought. Maybe Trump made some progress while he was there.

The Saudis are no better than the MB. The Saudis have been funding radical Madrassas and radical Wahabbism for decades. They preside over a government worse than just about anyone but ISIS.

Donald Trump's slavish support for the House of Saud and his equipping them with 110 billion in weapons is doing more to advance radical Islamism than all the Muslims in Europe and the USA put together.

Obama got the KSA right. He told them to go f-off, and went and unhinged the USA from the Saudis. He let them know....don't call us to be your b*tches in your proxy war with Iran. Call us back when you're actually willing to offer us something worthwhile for our support. With DJT, all they have to do is get a few of their insider oligarchs to throw his family some coin and pretend that they like him, and he'll open up the whole store to them.

And you guys were upset over a stupid donation to the Clinton Foundation, and not this...Mmmkay.

I still don't understand what the Saudi royal family has to gain from aligning with the radicals. They sell oil to civilized nations and it keeps them crazy rich. If ISIS had their way we all be stoning women and take us back to the stone age and no need for the House of Saud.

Perhaps during his visit, Trump persuaded the Saudis to cull out the jihadist support. There may have been a deal that we will never know about. The actions on Qatar may just be the first step.

They are religious extremists.

Some of them have to know they are slitting the throat of their grandchildren. But given examples like Hillary and the Democrats, maybe the royal family lives in a delusional bubble as well.

They ARE the radicals. You see, if they unhitch themselves from the Wahhabist clerics, they lose their power base. The Wahhabists keep the Shia repressed (where they are a majority in the oil producing region of the KSA) and they keep up support for a monarchy.

For the House of Saud, its like this....Someone will buy their oil, regardless of how awful they are. But if they can't control the oil, they won't have anything to sell.

However the royal family lives a pretty lavish lifestyle that is rumored not to be in line with Muslim teachings.

As soon as Qatar Airways was completely taken over by the Qatari government (2013) they entered into a code share agreement with American Airlines (2013). Very quickly passengers from muslim countries started flowing into the US on Qatar Airways/American Airlines connections by the thousands. Many traveling with burlap bags tied with string, some with $15 suitcases. Many arrived with food spilling from their luggage. Shortly afterwards American Airlines unexpectedly yanked its service out of Tel Aviv, Rumor was Qatar strong armed them into do it. Not sure if this means anything, but where were all those people going? Where are they today?

Ownership and subsidiaries. As of May 2014, the company is fully owned by the Qatari government. Qatar Airways has been fully controlled by the government since July 2013, following the buyout of a 50% stake from a former foreign minister and other shareholders.

Now their Arab neighbors announance that Qatar backs militant groups including so-called Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda, which Qatar denies. The Saudi state news agency SPA said Riyadh had closed its borders, severing land, sea and air contact with the tiny peninsula of oil-rich Qatar.

UPDATE 6/22/2017 04-jawdrop

Qatar Airways Interested in 'Significant' Stake in American Airlines

State-owned Qatar Airways is attempting to buy a 10 percent stake in American Airlines, triggering U.S. antitrust oversight of deals that size.
American said in a regulatory filing Thursday that the bid was unsolicited, but that there have been conversations between the CEOs of both airlines.

Earlier this month Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar and blocked direct flights with the country. Qatar Airways, one of the region's largest, also stopped its flights to the four Arab countries in response to the UAE's Etihad, Emirates, FlyDubai, EgyptAir and Bahrain's Gulf Air suspending flights to Qatar.

Qatar submitted a filing under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, which is subject to review by the Justice Department's Antitrust Division.
