It will be an improvement over the Cowen Spectrum (Kibble Dome) and Memorial Gym, that is certain. Moscow needs something new and modern.

I like the wood and modern design the size five thousand seems right. The convention/Luxury club room/VIP tailgating area is going to be a plus. Practice court being accessible 24/7 helps development also could be used for tailgating.
Acoustics should be good because of the wood .

Not until Chuck Staben finds some other organization to run into the ground.

Absolutely beautiful. Love the alternate logo on the walls of the practice court (bought a shirt with that logo last year).
F(ire) C(huck) S(taben) Arena has a nice ring to it.

Looks great!! But the windows behind the backboard could be a problem for shooters. Any one else play in an arena with windows?

Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center has a similar look on one end, but the windows are specifically on the north side. I think they're trying to recapture the glory of some of the old college basketball temples. Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse and Fordham's Rose Gymnasium have windows at end court, although higher. I think the Palestra blocked off their end-court windows.

It looks like I am alone in my dislike. I think it looks like it was designed in the 70's. Was Mike Brady the architect?

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping Liberty going FBS might opened his eyes. You would have been better off if he did UAB president move.

Looks great! Awesome design, IMO.
How do you think this arena, and its gameday experience for bball, will compare to that at Taco Bell Arena?

It will be a more modern facility (although TBA has been consistently upgraded) and should make for an excellent fan experience (especially when UM comes to town). The 4000-5000 seats projected should make for a more intimate experience than TBA at 12,500 seats. If it helps get Gonzaga, WSU, BSU, or other teams that garner fan interest to Moscow, then it will be an even better experience. I think the decline in live event attendance for college FB and BB in general and UIs attendance numbers over the last several years makes the size about right (and will incentivize ticket sales for marquee games). It will only have positive impacts for recruiting and this in turn is likely to improve the fan experience. It adds another venue for the Jazz Festival and other events on campus. The real comparison is not the TBA and UI Arena (likely they will sell naming rights) but between the UI Arena and the old Memorial Coliseum/Kibbie Dome combo. The new arena will be an extremely enhanced experience for fans, players, and media over the existing set up. If it turns out to look like the renderings or better (they are still in the design phase), UI will have a winner. TBA's size meets BSU's needs, e.g. keep in contention for NCAA BB tournament site, as an entertainment venue, and for marquee matchups. The UI Arena will meet the Vandals needs.
IMO, if the UI Arena has decent concessions, it will have a decided advantage over the blah options at TBA.

I think the size is right athletic attendance is slipping as the X box generation age. I think a nice 25 k dome and this arena would be perfect for an FBS Idaho. Not sure if the Kibbie Dome could be that dome .

Don Verlin has kept us not great but respectably decent for the past decade while recruiting in one of the worst facilities situations in D1 basketball. Assuming he sticks around it will be interesting to see what he can do in a better environment.

U of South Dakota actually was/is in a similar situation to Idaho for facilities. Have a dome and played bball in it, until they just built a new arena.
