800 remaining is still better than none.

Unfortunately this will continue until the US has tax reform that makes it more attractive to stay and make stuff here.

So we are content with companies holding us hostage? Give us money and we'll only send some of our jobs elsewhere. This doesn't seem Conservative or tenable.

When our tax system imposes severe negative consequences on them for staying here, what do you expect them to do?

If we close the gap, they will stay. If we don't, they really have no choice but to leave.

I agree. The problem is that Trump paraded this as "mission accomplished" when nothing had been done to address the problem. He essentially paid Carrier to send jobs to Mexico. If he lowers corporate tax rates, I'll be happy, but I didn't like this deal then and don't like it now. It was a really expensive PR stunt.

Yeah, never got the whole patting Trump on the back over a few jobs. He gets tax reform through so all the jobs stay then he's earned a pat on the back.

But bread and circuses are what works with the American people, unfortunately. Do a stunt like this and he's bringing jobs home. Adopt competitive tax rates that bring millions of jobs home and he's giving away to the "rich."

NAFTA had nothing to do with it. They were going away in droves before NAFTA. Same with TPP. We didn't pass it, and they are still going away in droves--to what would have been our TPP partners.

The alternative is to not have business friendly environment, companies all leave and people need to rely on the government for food. That doesn't seem tenable but it's sure progressive.

The patting was because it was a populist move.... He went small scale to help some folks. The Trump haters and the NeverTrumpers continue to try and find fault with the attempt.

It was just a photo op, plain and simple. Trump only cares about looking good, not actually being good. lol
