MyBB Colangelo Hints at MM Conference Changes
There honestly isn't much HERE, but I'm more inclined to take notice when Jerry Colangelo talks about realignment and the potential for a new MM conference than random message board conspiracy theorists. No offense. Haha.

He is just talking out of his butt. There is going to be no interest of a new conference. The Big West or the WCC isn't going to add GCU.

No, message board posters like us talk out of our butts (for the most part). People with the resume, relationships, resources, and respect of a Jerry Colangelo actually know things most of us can only speculate about. In most cases, they are the ones making those things happen.

What actually happens, if anything, remains to be seen. Again, I'm just going to pay a little more attention when one of the most respected & connected men in the world of basketball speaks on conference creation/realignment.

OMG gleadley!! Right when I thought you were a normal guy then you post this!!

Grand Canyon fans delusional view of life on display once again. Here is GCU fans view of the order of the most important people in the universe:

Jerry Colangelo>Dan Majerle>Jesus Christ=The Holy Trinity

P.S. No one outside of your purple bubble gives a crap about Jerry Colangelo and his for profit online college.

RE: Colangelo Hints at MM Conference Changes
Team USA Basketball gives a crap about him.
It's why they brought him in as Managing Director.

The NBA & 76ers give a crap about him.
It's why he was brought in as a Special Advisor to the franchise.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame cares about him.
It's why he was inducted and voted Chairman.

Arizona sports fans care about him.
He has brought or owned six professional teams to the state, including NBA, MLB, & NHL.

The City of Phoenix cares about him.
He initiated and has lled much of the downtown revitalization effort for the 5th largest city in America.

The Western Athletic Conference cares about him.
He introduced WAC leadership to that of the nation's top D2 athletic program, which led to adding a member who helped stabilize a dying conference.

None of this is exaggeration or hyperbole. These are not delusions. Colangelo is and has done all of these things. I'm sorry if that is hard for you to hear or accept, but it's true.

I didnt read it as GCU is driving the charge for a new conference. Only that there may be a new conference option beyond the horizon for GCU.

What a ridiculous article. The writer does not know the WAC and he has an inflated opinion of the Horizon. They just lost their best team. Below are the 2017 records of the schools from the cities that the article mentioned:

Detroit 8-23 RPI 289
Cleveland State 9-22 RPI 263
Milwaukee 11-24 RPI 260

CSUB 25-10 RPI 59
NMSU 28-6 RPI 55
UVU 17-17 RPI 180

A direct flight from Phoenix to Bakersfield is 90 minutes. To Salt Lake City 90 minutes and Las Cruces is a bus trip or a one hour flight to El Paso plus 45 minute bus trip to Las Cruces. So by travel or quality of competition, the Horizon is not a good move for GCU.

What Colangelo said was “I would foresee over the next four or five years a lot of schools making changes,” Colangelo explained. “Maybe a new conference developing.”

That is realistic. There will be changes over the next five years. There could be a conference merger. Some conferences will tighten their footprint. There could be some conference re-alignment based on geography. There is a much better chance of that rather than GCU flying to the eastern time zone to play bad basketball programs.
