Total fantasy. Not happening.

BIG XII SCHOOLS get $34.8 million/School

(And yes, I know TCU was very good when they were added and UH wasn't as strong, but coaches change....)
That's a good point in hindsight. By losing Texas A&M and not replacing them with Houston (or maybe Rice?), the Big XII practically conceded Eastern Texas and the uber-rich recruiting grounds in Houston to the SEC.
Bingo. Had Texas been smarter, they would have pushed for Houston in return for Houston's support for a UT-Houston campus.
TX would have gotten a means to further grow support in Houston and a public school that they can bully around.
Houston would have gotten a lifeline.
The B12 would have added a program w/ a higher ceiling and maintained a strong recruiting presence in east Texas.
Baylor would have kept their monopoly on Dallas, which would have put them in a way better position right now.
Elevating Houston would be PUNISHING to A&M. Their recruiting would still be very good, but I think the impact would be noticeable. And that act might send a message to any other school w/ wandering eyes.
TCU was the wrong add IMHO.
Some things in Houston and Austin are bigger and more important than football
UT- Houston campus is MUCH bigger business than college sports, and as you might know this campus is dead, houston powers to be in austin put an end to it
Texas could not invite Houston to b12 in exchange for this campus, senators from Houston flat out said no frickin way
