RE: Realignment - Airlines Cutting Charter Flights
There are a couple of reasons why the Chinese have gotten into the commercial aviation sector with their COMAC C919 and ARJ2. While I'd likely never fly on a Chinese built aircraft those planes will help ease demand on Boeing and Airbus.

As arkstfan said the # of airframes is lacking. Additionally, the # of pilots needed continues to grow. Both of these place further constraints on a system with what is essentially a finite supply over the short term, for certain.

There are many charter companies that offer large aircraft charter that have nothing to do with the airlines. Miami Air is a big one, they do a lot of pro sports as well. You also have Western Airways, Eastern Airlines, Corp Flight, and that is just the few I can think of without looking any up.

This really is a non issue. Only football needs the larger aircraft, and if money is to be made, one aircraft can do two schools a weekend with proper scheduling. I don't foresee schools going out and buying A320's, 737's or even 757's because they need to move the football team around 4-5 times a year.

Yea..so instead of chartering one 737, they charter 3 ERJ-45s etc. There's no rule that the teams have to travel on the same plane.
Not true, CCU usually charters a 737 for football and other sports using a small airline no one has ever heard of.
Missing the point.

CCU isn't super smart and out-witting everyone because no one else knows about whatever airline.

The total inventory of 737, A319 and A320 airframes in North America is insufficient to meet the charter needs of the NFL and college football because most are too busy running revenue flights for passenger and freight airlines.

Call your AD, ask if it has gotten easier or harder to secure a charter.
Didn't really imply that, just stating there is more 737 and A320 charters than you would think. Yes, they will experience more demand in the future, but predicting the market is always difficult.

Worst case scenario, we could end our games at halftime and fly into Charleston. 03-lmfao05-stirthepot

Boeing has increased production of the 737. On December 31, 2016 Boeing had orders for 4,452 737's waiting to be filled.

Boeing is upgrading their production and will increase production in 2017 and again in 2017 and even with those upgrades if you have order #4,452 on that backlog, you will take delivery in 2022.

It means that many Power Conference schools will not be flying Delta but rather Eastern like we do.

And as an employee of a larger than the Death Star Atlanta based airline I can promise you they will continue to fly the NFL and SEC.

Lol, I love it when pig farmers claim to know the intricacies of airline supply and demand.

(Just being facetious, no disrespect to actual pig farmers, I love your work)

This isn't pay us more money we will be there. The flippin NFL is struggling to find charters. Teams are leaving at weird hours just to get a flight and TV's insistence on giving three weeks notice on games after the first few weeks makes it crazier.
