RE: 2017 Softball World Series
Congrats to Oklahoma ... back-to-back champions. At least NDSU took a game from them! More than I can say, unfortunately, for Minnesota doing any damage in the post season.
One thing I was struck by from watching Minnesota lose twice to Alabama: the SEC softball facilities and fan support are head and shoulders above anyone else in the country, save for a few select programs in other conferences.
Really impressed with facilities at Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, etc etc etc.
And that brings me to one small anecdote about Oklahoma: their softball program fits right in, like a square peg in a square hole ...... with the SEC.
Again, congrats.
And hope the bitter, bitter, bitter taste in the mouths of the Gophers fuels them for next season!

I have to say I find the softball tournament much more compelling and watchable than the baseball tourney.
Unfortunately, one of the things I like about it is that the games are shorter. I'm not fond of staying up late to watch. The first game between Florida and Oklahoma lasted five hours, and I stayed with it to the end. It was great entertainment, and will remain an all-time classic in softball lore.

I like it because sometimes the lipsticks play better than the chapsticks...

Yes, so compelling that every single SEC team, and eight of nine Pac teams, made the tournament. And 54-3 Minnesota was rewarded by not hosting at all.
Whereas in baseball Sam Houston State, Kentucky and Davidson are two wins away from their first CWS, Missouri State from their 3rd, six of the eight participants from last year's CWS are already out and the defending national champs didn't even make the tournament.

That's because SEC and PAC absolutely own college softball, with a handful of exceptions.
Just like the Big Ten and PAC absolutely own college women's volleyball, with a handful of exceptions.
