These are jaw dropping numbers:

I think our budget is around $25 million.

It's pretty sickening how far behind we are, and all programs on our level for that matter. I'd like to see one of these for CUSA and AAC.... That would probably make us throw up to know how far behind we are with our peers.

How are we far behind? Unless Hattiesburg grows another 180k in population and enrollment climbs another 18k per year we are doing exceptional based on location and population. It's simple demand vs reality. Our coaching staff salary is probably 15% of what LSU spends. Win this weekend and the super and you just lapped LSU for 2017 for success on the field for a fraction of the cost. You are not going to make a million dollar profit ever based on a thousand factors outside of our control like location and population. Coastal Carolina won the whole thing and still averages around 1500 per game. Can't imagine they are making a profit or feel they are behind in comparison to that report.

hes talking about how far behind we are regarding finances, not the baseball teams performance(s).

Got it. It's all relevant regarding a full budget or one for just baseball. Even if you increase our total budget 25% you are not going to see 25% return on investment. You won't add another 25% in the stands at MM Roberts on average. We can't sellout games against Texas AM or Nebraska at home so the budget increase doesn't equate more attndance. Our alumni output is 7k less per year compared to MS State. The average salary of a State diploma compared to a USM diploma is less since they crank out engineering degrees like candy. Alumni for State contribute more dollars and fill more seats for events. All you do by increasing our budget without the income to support it is put yourself in more debt throwing more bad money at a negative return. Again, how are we behind when you relate budget, expenses, etc....

That's backwards logic anyways. Obviously raising the budget wouldn't draw more fan attendance. You have to draw the fans first in order to raise the budget. Increase attendance 25% and see the budget increase as a result, not the other way around.
