RE: Federico
He takes too much heat from a lot of our people. He does a decent job with what he has to work with. However, I don't think he's great or even good and wouldn't shed a tear if he left. Would see it as a big oppurtunity to get an upgrade. And him getting another job is likely the only way for that to happen. If he leaves, we should make a huge push to get Ostrander from Tech.

RE: Federico
I've given him a lot of heat in the past and for good reason. Pitching development has consistently been a thorn in our side for years. Wouldn't be mad if this were to happen and hopefully we could get someone with a lot of potential to really make us something special in the next couple years. Maybe even the Ill.-Chicago guy, though I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about him, just that his team ERA is really good.

He has a tough job I will admit. Just about every 90+ arm in the state gets sucked up by State, OM, LSU. And there aren't many to begin with. However I do think it's one area where we could improve. We need to do whatever we have to do to keep Caillet.

I have seen at least six of our pitchers hit 90 or higher this season. Only a few live there, but this is probably the best pitching staff velocity-wise we have had in a long time.

RE: Federico
That's kind of my point. We have been able to scrape up several that have pretty good velocity. But still only have 2 or 3 that consistently pitch at 90 or above. Ole Miss, in a season where they couldn't even make regionals, has about 10. With several that sit in the low 90s consistently. Most of which are Freshmen.

RE: Federico
I could definitely see Caillet getting picked up by some Southland or Belt school.

If Riser leaves SELA, I think he'd be a great fit there with his South Louisiana connections.

RE: Federico
Federico seems to over-analyze things and worry a little too much about "situational ball". This team seems to do best when the staff kinda sits back and lets them play their game, their way. A few times this year, he has pulled a pitcher that was in his groove and stuck someone in to specifically pitch to just a couple batters and it messed up the mojo of the team.

I think Riser probably has his eyes on a bigger prize than ULM. Not sure how much of an upgrade that is from SLU.

I meant if he left for any job. If Riser went to some power conference school, I think Caillet would be a good candidate to replace him in Hammond.
