It makes a good deal of sense to swap Auburn and Missouri and I think he'll get support from a lot of schools if we can end the permanent opponents.

Already against permanent opponents:

LSU
South Carolina
Florida
Texas A&M

Will be against permanent opponents with a Aub/Mizz swap:

UGA
Arkansas
Missouri
Auburn (if Alabama can be preserved)

That's 7/14 against and if Alabama/Auburn can be preserved then that means UT/Bama is really the only loss. Miss, Miss St, UK, and Vandy will be against too but none of those "rivalry" games are major losses from a TV or competitive standpoint.

That being said, I fully expect Alabama to get their way like always.

Dodds links an SB Nation article that does a very nice divisionless, 3 permanent rivals format:

School. Permanent opponents
Alabama Auburn LSU Tennessee
Arkansas Missouri Ole Miss Texas A&M
Auburn Alabama Georgia MSU
Florida Georgia SC Tennessee
Georgia Auburn Florida SC
Kentucky Missouri MSU Vanderbilt
LSU Alabama Ole Miss Texas A&M
Missouri Arkansas Kentucky Texas A&M
MSU. Auburn Kentucky Ole Miss
Ole Miss Arkansas LSU MSU
S.Carolina Florida Georgia Vanderbilt
Tennessee Alabama Florida Vanderbilt
Tex A&M Arkansas LSU Missouri
Vanderbilt Kentucky SC Tennessee

http://www.sbnation.com/college-football...s-rotation

Odd and even year schedules are found in the link too

I can dig it. UGA, UF, and UT are the most important to me. I can live without UT and Vandy is a decent road trip.

I wouldn't want to give up LSU, but playing them every other year would work for me.

Move Alabama and Auburn to the east. Then move Missouri and Vanderbilt to the west.

Those divisions would be incredibly unbalanced. That means only one of Alabama, Auburn, UGA, UT, and UF could win the division in any given year. Those ADs and Presidents will never go for that

Maybe its time to do something other than east vs west. What if the SEC went to a yearly rotating system. 1 or 2 teams could switch divisions every year. This would allow a greater mixture of competition among members.

No. Not that Big 10 bs. I'm talking about keeping the east-west current line ups. Then make 1or 2 teams from each division rotate to the other division.

Pat Dye joins Finebaum at 6ET/5CT. Maybe more realignment comments?

Lol I was just kidding

It would be revolutionary to have teams rotate. It would likely be those schools that straddle the East/West border.

I don't know, Crackers and Creoles might work for divisional names.

Get rid of divisions completely

3 permanent rivalry games then 5 rotating home and away so you never go longer than 2 years without playing someone and every player and student that attends 4 years has the opportunity to see every opponent at home and at their place

2 best records meet in Atlanta

It's the best of all worlds

I think every league should run their standings this way, even when we get to expanded conference playoffs.

I agree, but there will be some major crying most years due to the imbalanced schedules. Taking the top four teams for a set of conference semifinal games would solve that problem and help improve the status of programs and coaches over the years.

Thanks to the B1G & the SEC we don't have that now. Instead everyone can have a CCG.
