RE: The problem with bama
1) Its not the responsibility of a public university to care about other state schools.

2) It is the responsibility of legislatures and Higher Education Boards to care about in-state publics effects on one another and get them to act together to benefit the state as a whole.

3) Fans who trash talk a school that their school will not schedule deserve nothing but laughter. Smack talk you won't back up on the field is ball-less.

Well thought out post and I need to rep you for it. Please don't get me started on the Alabama legislature though. The one thing that those clowns in Montgomery finally got right was getting former governor Bentley to resign. Other than that, it's been pretty useless.

Economics say this is a bad deal for tOSU. Modern reality.

Note: tOSU does host Cincy in 2019 - and in place of a P5 school (not sure why). So you have your game.
Also tOSU will play 11 P5 schools in 2018 (Oregon State, TCU), 2022 & 2023 (Texas, ND). They don't have a lot of dates to use on G5 schools, and they don't go soft on OOC. The argument is better with Alabama.

Sure, all true.

My desire is for UC to cancel the game in 2019. UC is too good to be playing "buy games" at Ohio A&M. That's for MAC schools.

Funny thing about UArk is the argument used to be that AState was I-AA and they Never played I-AA.
Our first day in I-A they played The Citadel in their opener and fired Jack Crowe. :)

We're talking about an SEC West team here. They'll play neutral site games, sure, but then load up on body bags at home.

Fixed it for you

OSU just won't VISIT Cincinnati.

Well, except to play their spring game. (thanks Mike Brown for facilitating that)

This is a sore point with UC fans --- and I do agree with them. They should tell OSU to "pound sand", and never again play in Columbus until OSU agrees to play one in Cincinnati.

OSU moved a game scheduled in Cincy back to their place, per the contract. We have 1 more game scheduled up there.
PSU played down here in the 80's and again in 92? We do have Nebraska and UCLA visiting Nippert so that is nice.

Guessing 90% of the BIG - MAC games are at BIG stadiums.

We swept UAT in baseball this year and JSU had a down year. More good reasons not to play us.

You know Gem, that's actually pretty sad that none of the other in-state programs will play you guys. We should invite you guys to Troy a couple of times, until you guys go FBS or at least can get A&M, State, or Samford to play you guys again. We should help you out and it's a real shame that we don't.

I hear you though on Bama too. We played their baseball team too, and beat them also. I guess the Bama logic is if they're good enough to beat our baseball team, they might be good enough to beat our football team.

TUNA will still plays and will soon be DI.

I dont see us traveling to Troy without a return date. JSU doesnt see itself in that light. Troy will not travel to JSU, so we have a standoff. This also means probably no USA or UAB. The only schools in Alabama we should not expect a return game are UAT and Auburn.

I also reserve the right to be proven wrong by someone paying us a good sum of money.

A FBS team cannot play at Jacksonville State without a waiver from the NCAA as long as Jacksonville State is FCS.

1992, yep. UC should have won that one. PSU wins by 3, aided by a blocked field goal.

Just looked it up --- that game was, remarkably, not even close to a sellout. First game at a then-refurbished Nippert Stadium, with the #8 ranked team in town. Night game. And it got 28K fans in a 35K capacity stadium.

It was a different time then versus the back half of the 2000s --- the city wasn't supporting UC football at all in the 90s.
