RE: ODAF Suggestions
I also have quite a bit of swag from ODAF. And while I don't have any problem with the change several years ago to that name, I still think it needs a different DBA. The ODAF dba Big Blue Club or something like that. If Wood really doesn't like the club effect, I think the thing would look better spelled out as ODU Athletic Foundation.

Bottom line is ODAF doesn't carry the same pride for me because no one outside of ODU really would know what that is. And ODU doesn't need anything else that puts its name on the backburner. We've been doing that for decades now. It's beyond time to be bolder.

I will never understand this decision

In theory, Monarch Maniac membership was supposed to give a small number of ODAF points per year (10, I think)

I was a 4 year member of the Maniacs and was never contacted about buying Season Tickets, joining ODAF, etc. from it.

That is just crazy to me. ODU is making some boneheaded decisions on a very basic level.

Wow. Thats simply awful. Former Maniacs would be the first people I approached about tickets and ODAF. Sometimes I wonder about the people working in those departments.

RE: ODAF Suggestions
So I sent a message to ODAF on twitter about koozies and car decals. They thought it was a good idea and sent me a koozie and a couple decals in the mail for free. I suggest if you have twitter, ask for some for yourself. Who doenst like free stuff.

Also does anyone know how much you have to donate to get into the big blue club at Foreman Field?

Donation level is $1,000 per year but you also have to purchase the premium sideline seats.

RE: ODAF Suggestions
What would you all like to see as a free gift for your donation to ODAF?

koozie
car decal
magnet
t-shirt
something else...

Just trying to gauge this topic.

Car decals would be great, IF they said ODU or Old Dominion. ODAF is a dumb name and means nothing. I wouldn't put anything that says ODAF on my car or wear it on a shirt either. At the very least have it say OLD DOMINION (large) and athletic foundation (small) like they do "basketball" or "football" etc.

ODU also drops the ball (no pun intended) by having hang tag type parking passes too. I see CNU stickers on cars all over the peninsula because students, faculty and staff need them to park. The result is thousands of rolling ads and statements of support for the school. We could do the same. I was told the reason we didnt was because hooligans stole them off vehicles. Cheap, removable interior window clings for passes would solve that problem like a champ.

I'd be curious if anyone who graduated after 2013 has bought season football tickets. Not a dig but just wonder if new graduates care about sports as much as I do. Kids in college today played computer games more than real life sports.

Good points, I have an ODAF decal but I also have an ODU decal on my car. I really like that parking pass idea. I think ODU should pursue that. I think a cool thing would be you could choose your personal free gift with minimum yearly donation and gifts could be of better quality the more you give. It doenst make that much of a difference but I think stuff like this shows that ODAF values you as a donor and having a cool koozie or something at a tailgate to show off is neat to some people.

Our group is all 2013 grads so I guess we dont count. However, BlueTrombone is a football/bball season ticket holder and young alum. We also have a group of band alums that tailgate next to us. They're all around 23 y/o.

I graduated in 2015 (should have been 2013 though) and due to living in Fairfax I can't afford the tickets and the 6 weekends of travel (yet). If I lived closer to ODU I would have done it in a heartbeat. I also play video games and played sports my whole life 03-wink

I'm a 2011 grad and my brother is a 2013 grad. I live in Charlotte and he lives in VA. I dont make it to every game but we have season tickets because its so cheap why not and also to obviously support the football program. If I cant make it to a game someone always takes my spot but the ticket is paid for and that is what counts.

So when you play NCAA2017 football (I assume that is what it is called) who is your starting QB for ODU? Hopefully you kick butt and make it to the National Championship game. 3 hours each way is a lot of driving. It doesn't get any easier once kids come along.

That video game comment may have been a sign of being a little out of touch with people of the last decade haha. I too play more video games than sports but I've been to almost every football and basketball game since I graduated in 2009. There's a lot of gamers out there who also like sports. They are not mutually exclusive groups

I work as a sponsor for a student organization now - there are about 30 in regular attendance. I bring up the football games or basketball team when I can. None of them know anything about either one. They do not attend the games. Most of them have the general opinion that we are not very good.

My opinion is that the university is dropping the ball with courting the students and grooming future donors. I was EXTREMELY involved as a student in our athletics and was really never contacted to become a donor. Just did it on my own because I knew I wanted to participate.

Thanks to Ed O'Bannon, they dont make that game any more. Last one was NCAA14, the only version ODU is in.

There are some folks that work on updating the rosters each year. But yeah, we really need that game back.

I think this will get better with the student tailgate area of the new stadium.
