35-0! Thirty-Five and 0! Almost nothing else I can say compares to that. But here goes.
1st team all-American. 8th in Heisman voting (1st MAC player to ever receive votes); 3 time 1st team All-MAC; 3 time MAC offensive POY; 2 time Tangerine bowl MVP; UT jersey retired;
At the time, set most every career QB record for Toledo. Many of those were broken by Swick, but some stood a lot longer, like career TD passes, which stood for 25 years; First UT player to pass for 2000 yards in a season; Still in the top 10 for most categories.
In addition to his undefeated college career, was also undefeated as a starting QB in HS.
Went on to play for Hamilton, Winnipeg and Toronto in the CFL. Led Hamilton to the Grey Cup in 1972 (his rookie year) and was MVP of the Grey Cup game; CFL rookie of the year; Threw for more than 13,000 yards and 82 TDs in his 7 year CFL career. Also rushed for nearly 4,000 yards and scored 19 rushing TDs.
All-time great, and an absolutely outstanding human being.
