Gotta quibble with that. They gave LSU the absolutely weakest #4 seed in the tourney in TSU, and for all practical purposes two #3 seeds. SELA was a bubble in team, with a quality RPI (#27), but not much else on their resume. By giving LSU TSU in the opener, LSU can go with their #3 or even their #4 starter, and save their co-aces, Lange and Poche, for the following two games. And their offense is downright scary.

Here's hoping TSU can do to LSU what it did to Rice a ways back!

Keep a close eye on @RiceBaseball in the Baton Rouge Regional. Gave #LSU all it could handle last year. Tristan Gray sizzling hot.

Near term, I'd wager that CUSA attendance is better than B10. But, the market potential is better with the B10.

Rice's rise ascension in the tourney may have done the most damage of any tourney. It cost SMISS a national seed and ODU a bid.

so at most 2 bids either way

Any word on team hotel yet? I'm hoping we're back at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capital Center.

Just don't see how A&M made it. 5-11 vs Top 25, 10-16 vs Top 50, 16-20 vs Top 100, lost 8 out of their last 10, and had OOC SOS of 217! How in the world can you be in Texas and put together an OOC SOS like that! Gonzaga was ripped for their poor OOC SOS but then again they aren't exactly in a hotbed of college baseball.

I stand by my post of 3/21
f the season does not straighten out, hiring from within is not a good momentum generator in my opinion.
I do however, feel there is a chance to salvage this season
1) 2 of the top pitchers were behind schedule due to injuries
2) the infield had to be shuffled due to academic issues, likely resulting in more errors
3) The pitching seems to be coming around
4) 4 of our 6 wins are against ranked teams, at least indicating they can compete

NCAA baseball needs to spread things around a bit. It's odd 3 of the same 4 LSU regional teams from 2016 are back there again in 2017. That said, we could be in a worse spot. It almost goes without saying that we can't afford to have 3 errors or more against SE Louisiana (we had 8 errors actually in our 2 losses against them; just 1 in the win).

Houston got a pretty tough regional. TCU got a really hard 2 seed.

Is Kaarlgard the NCAA rep at UH? If so, I speculated earlier that might be the reason we weren't sent to Houston.

Our win probably cost Miami its streak. Sucks for them.

Does FL ST have the longest ongoing tournament streak now that Miami's was broken?

Yes, but let's not kid ourselves. This is another indicator of terrible problems with our program.

Miami and McNeese state have higher RPI's than A&M. It's a travesty, but SEC membership does have its benefits.

Second source?

Don't need one. JP would correct himself 10 seconds later if he were wrong. 05-stirthepot

(Not sure if you count Rice SID as second source, but this is the press release from last year: http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-basebl/...16aaa.html )

I enjoy JP. He's entertaining that's for sure. I don't know if I'd say he's prone to malapropisms, contradictions or just sometimes hard to follow . . . or some combination of all 3. Tank might be a good nickname (Jeff Millar/Bill Hinds fans should get this).

He does grow on you.
