The SoCon would most likely ask Furman to find a new home. Of course in Furman's case, the SoCon would probably take a Big South school to destabilize Big South football, but leaving a hole for Furman.

Since the So Conference currently has a non-football school in their conference with UNC-G, I doubt SoCon kicks them out for the other sports since football membership does not appear mandatory.

I just learned that Liberty's AD was at Baylor when Babers was a WR coach at Baylor. I wonder if that played a role in the scheduling.

I think JMU window may have passed. SB appears to be more than happy to stay at 10 unless the right two teams come along. I think any conference expansion holds of til around 2022 or 2023 when the B12 GOR is nearly up. I see the SB standing pat until then and CUSA will probably make the decision if they split the conference into two.

I do think Liberty's abilty to attract games so quickly will inspire other schools to explore indy a little more but they know they have to make sure they get finances in order and start fundraising now. I think the next regional Indy may be in SC with Furman, Charleston or Citadel.

Furman doesn't have the base.

College of Charleston doesn't have football and has nowhere to build a stadium.

The Citadel gave up aspirations of big time football in the early 1950's when they aligned with the small schools in the SoCon and ran the big schools off to form the ACC.
