1st Vegas book to put out lines on week 1.

Early thoughts. I'd bet the farm on UTSA covering 17 at home against UH and LSU covering 8 points against BYU at NRG.

Stanford laying 38 in Australia against the Owls. Seems high, but who knows.

I'm going to Vegas in three weeks. I'll have to look into this.

In 10 years under Bailiff, Rice is 5-3 ATS as an underdog of 30 or more. That half of those games have come in the last 2 years (and now here comes a 9th) is sadly telling; nevertheless we easily covered at +34 *at* Stanford last year and they lose McCaffrey. Stanford's also 1-3 ATS in lined openers under Shaw, including a SU loss last year in an AM kickoff two time zones east at Northwestern (a huge potential advantage we've squandered by moving this game). Bailiff is 2-3 ATS in lined nonconference openers (and that doesn't even include Nicholls St.) but that would not keep me from playing the Owls, especially given that (this stat is cribbed from other sources) game 1 nonconference favorites that lost 3 or fewer games the previous season and beat the same opponent by more than 21 the previous season are 6-34-3 ATS.

What is the line in metric?

With our new defensive scheme, I would hope we can keep it under the spread!!

38 points = 5.5 Touchdowns US
38 points = 6.3 Goals AUS
