Exclamation 99 Days to Kickoff... #99 Fr. LB Isaac Ukwu
Starting off the summer countdown to kickoff with 6'3" 215# linebacker Isaac Ukwu. Isaac joins the Dukes from Upper Marlboro, MD, who lists Computer Science as his intended major.

He's got a good frame for a freshman linebacker, wonder if he will redshirt or be used on special teams?

We have good depth on Defense so I would imagine they would bring him along slowly. Seems like a really bright kid and going to be a nice contributor in a season or two.

Good. I hope Dukes fans will participate. It is also a good opportunity to review seasons of the past (or players with that jersey number from the past). For instance, the 1999 JMU Football season I'm sure many can remember...

-started off with a 47-0 loss at Blacksburg
-Dukes then reeled off 7 straight wins
-finished losing 3 of the last 4, including a 1st round NCAA playoff game at Troy
-finished 7-1 in conference (A10 at the time)
-Curtis Keaton netted 1,719 yards rushing for the season (5.5 yards per carry is pretty darn good)

Keaton would then go on to be drafted in the 4th round by the Cincinnati Bengals, #97 overall.

The '99 game was Michael Vick's first game. The thing I remember most of that beatdown, was getting down to the Tech 15 yard line on a long run by Keaton early in the 1st quarter. By the time our drive was over, VT had pushed us back beyond the 50 and we had to punt.

Will go down as one of the best punters in JMU History. Never had to worry with him back there

And Vick was knocked out of the game after getting his ankle jacked up on this head-over-heels flip for a TD. By then the game was done as he ran all over the Dukes.
