Why play these warm up games on a weekday? You're making it tough on ticket holding fans for no reason since the game is gonna be on ESPN3 anyway
Labor Day weekend

Technically the Thursday before isn't Labor Day Weekend. People still work on that Thursday and the Friday after. The weekend starts on Saturday.

In Atlanta it starts on Wed night. The traffic snarl become apparent by Thursday afternoon. There is usually at least one Braves game and an NFL preseason game and two Chik Fil Kickoff games. Then there is Dragon Con whose participants start arriving Thursday morning if not Wed night. That is not to mention the handful of other large events in town at the same time. Our AD as even voiced that now that we have our own stadium pushing to open the previous Saturday or even on the road. Add to that that people have a ton of personal things planned with the family that last weekend of summer. I imagine if not to the same magnitude, that most large cities have similar issues.

RE: ABC/ESPN schedule for opening weekend
Read on a Hawkeye website (writers opinion) that both Maryland vs Texas and Iowa vs Wyoming will be on Fox OTA. He even predicts that the Iowa vs Wyoming game will be on FOX OTA in prime time. Seeing that the lousy Akron vs Penn St match up is an ABC game, that makes sense. Based on the ESPN employee who posts on here who's insisted that ESPN gets as good as picks as Fox does for Big 10 games, this shows that maybe he's wrong.-- That Fox does get a much stronger selection of the Big 10 games than ESPN does. We will see if this is right when Fox releases their tv schedule.
