Wow! Who would have thought that we would have guys transferring to Kansas and Georgetown (and App State)? I get that this is not your father's Georgetown but it's still Georgetown with Ewing coming back.

Good luck with that. I wish him well but he is a very streaky shooter and more times than not he was cold last season. Maybe he can recover from his concussion funk, but I think he will struggle against much better athletes in the Big East where he won't be able to get free as easily.

I mean Greg drove me crazy for a lot of last season but this is a great get for Georgetown (and a pretty big loss for us) especially if he's immediately eligible as a grad transfer.

If he is the sophomore season Mal, then I agree. If not, I see minimal contributions unless Georgetown is so bad he is their go-to-scorer

He could see a lot of success as a Kyle Korver type player. Won't have to do much besides shoot, and won't get one of the top defenders on him.

If Greg is on the Hoyas roster, he's there to boost their team GPA and reduce the chances of APR issues. Bank on that.

Just to clarify, did he graduate from the College as some folks mentioned that he is off to Georgetown as a grad transfer?

I've also seen people mention that he may be paying his way through senior year. That would allow him to circumvent the one year sit out right?

Daily Press says he will sit out a year, but there is no official word.

At this point I don't care if he sits out a year or five years. Or never plays.

The coaching staff has moved on from the two transfers and so have I.

The transfer of Whitman and Malinowski gives me even more respect and affection for Marcus Thornton. Marcus was a guy who, after signing with the Tribe his senior year of high school continued to get better and better. His improvement continued at W&M and by his sophomore year, he could have easily transferred to any number of higher-profile ACC programs, who would have loved to have him. But he stayed at William and Mary. That's loyalty.

And still proudly keeps William and Mary pics prominently in his twitter graphics.

RE: Greg transferring
I hate the situation we are in, but I don't blame the kids.

Coach Shaver and staff have a major challenge to overcome, but he is the right person for the task. We just need to focus on improving the program such as a renovated Kaplan Arena, a brand new practice facility and better ass't coaches salary, etc. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen sooner or later if we continue to support the program and voice our concerns to the administration.

FWIW, statement on CasualHoya site that they talked to Malinowski last weekend and he confirmed he is a regular transfer and sitting out one to play one. He has only played in two Kenner League games so far with little impact.

In all honesty, I believe Greg was a public policy major, and if he can get his degree and be one year into a grad degree, then Georgetown is a great place for him with that focus. We may have lost the extra body, but I don't think Greg would have started, or have had much impact this year. I think Tot is a better choice to pick up those minutes, after Pierce.

RE: Greg transferring
Several conflicting rumors about Greg in the AD with latest being he may not play basketball at all at Georgetown and just concentrate on being a student. This goes with the apparent fact that, at least up to now, he did not get a scholarship.
