Dysfunctional child? Really? I guess that means we don't drink the Cowtown Koolaide.
If North Korea launches an ICBM I sure hope it gets intercepted unless it's target is Cowlumbus.
I live in Florida with a lot of people from Ohio. Mostly OSU fans. OSU watch party's are big. Recently a couple moved into our neighborhood from Columbus. When we were talking the wife said glad to have Buckeye's in the neighborhood. I told her I was from Ohio but I am NOT a buckeye. I told her I was a BEARCAT. She looked at me is disbelief! I told her in Cincinnati we are Bearcats. Nice lady but she does not get it!

In all honesty, there are a large contingent of Buckeye wives and girlfriends who "root" fervently for OSU that probably doesn't know there is a FCS school in Cincinnati.

Coombs is a better coach up there because he's got better players, but he deserves all the credit as the guy responsible for getting those players

I'm not a Coombs fan but it's not just the players. His coaching has improved.
I'm going to choose to believe it was working under Fickell that stepped up his game. If Fickell can turn Coombs into a decent coach just imagine what will happen on the staff at UC.

More interesting osu dribble.
Echos what I've been thinking since he got here. Its not really going to hurt OSU. Maybe 1 kid a year that they truly want will end up in Cincy instead. But its really going to hurt your mid-tier big 10 teams like Iowa, MSU, Illinois. It wouldn't surprise me if OSU pushes kids in our direction for exactly that reason as well. Anything they can do to hurt their competition has to help.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fickell has been eyeballing the Cincinnati job for years. In addition to being a great place to raise his Catholic family that is just an hour and a half down the road from home, he understands the dynamics of recruiting in Big Ten country. He knows what kind of talent we have in our city and he also knows that Urban would rather these high 3-star kids go to Cincinnati than other Big Ten schools. Living in Columbus, I always hear from OSU fans about how kids they passed on end up at Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State and play pissed off against the Buckeyes. They also hate UK and would much rather see the kids Marrow is pulling end up here.

He has been eyeballing UC. He mentioned in his initial press conference he and his wife discussed several years back it would be a logical place to go if he wanted to become a head coach.
As to OSU, the longer Urban stays there the better for UC IMO. When Jim Tressel was the HC in Columbus he mostly recruited within the walls of the state. In addition to the top guys in the state, he took a lot of 3-star and even some 2-star guys who ended up being very good players (and some went on to the NFL). Urban recruits on the national level--- he is the John Calipari of CFB in that he is able to recruit the top guys in the country at each position.

I agree. If Tressel was still around, guys like Whyle, Vann, and Hawkins would already have solid OSU offers. We aren't going to be recruiting the 5-star guys from Florida and California that Urban goes after, so that means more quality local talent for us.
