If it ended today who's got the better chance of getting in
ODU: 37-20 (19-11) 2nd place in the #6 conference. RPI - 44. SOS - 68.
1-25: 4-4
26-50: 4-3
51-100: 10-5
101-200: 13-5
200+ : 6-3
Highlighted by away weekend series wins against #10 USM & #20 WVU
USA: 36-19 (22-8) 2nd place in the #9 conference. RPI - 37. SOS - 83.
1-25: 1-8
26-50: 3-4
51-100: 3-4
101-200: 18-2
200+: 11-1
Beat #6 LSU in a midweek game.
Or do they just take an 8th or 9th SEC team?
I tend to lean ODU but the two things that USA also has in their favor is that they went 13-3 in their last 16 games. Moreover, while they have a crappy record against the top 100, they don't have as many "bad" losses like ODU does.

Nastybunch's comment proves that no one really knows. However, ODU has the better record against high RPI teams, which seems to carry more weight (usually) than a one game difference in schedule (especially since ODU's schedule was tougher) and slightly higher RPI. You could both be left out, but I can't imagine C-USA getting one bid and the Sunbelt getting 2. I'd personally prefer you both got in.

Maybe they all deserved it, but I find that hard to believe.
As baseball is starting to become a revenue sport at many p5 schools and the games are more heavily televised, I imagine we will see more bias from the selection committee just like we so in basketball now.

I'd say RPI, non-conference SoS and recent W-L record means more in determining the final bubble teams.

Not sure about their top 3 with Giovanoni not pitching last weekend vs us nor this week yet. Game 3 last week they threw the kitchen sink (as did we) as they used 8 pitchers
Wednesday
SP Dressler - 132 pitches
RP Craigie - 27 pitches
Thursday
SP Pickering - 88 pitches
RP Craigie - 34 pitches (27 on Wednesday also)
RP Mason - 1 pitch

I'm not the biggest baseball fan in the world, as the game moves too slow for my taste. But unless I'm mistaken, our top 3 starting pitchers are as follows...
1) Tyler Giovanoni (3.41)
2) Steven Dressler (3.99)
3) C.J. Pickering (4.38)
As a couple of you have noticed, Giovanoni hasn't pitched since he threw a complete-game 2-hit shutout at Charlotte on May 12th though. I haven't heard anything about what the reason may be. Btw, that was his 2nd consecutive complete-game win, and he had won 5 straight games for us. Really don't know whom we'll put on the mound tonight.

No that was from Thursday's games.
#3 FAU at #7 FIU
#1 USM at #5 LT
#2 ODU at #6 Rice
#4 Charlotte at #8 UTSA
I'm not sure how today's home teams were determined though.

I'm reasonably confident that when both teams have played an equal amount of games home/away, it's a coin flip.

I wonder why all conferences seem to do it that way (and have done it for years). It would seem the better seed has earned the right to be the home team throughout.

I guess to give the higher seed the advantage in the first round, and after that give each team their "fair shot" from then on. It would suck to be the 8 seed and have to be the away team for 5-6 games straight.

USM fans, do you see y'all have having enough pitching depth to be able to make it to Sunday and still be competitive?
As a Rice fan, I'm rooting for ODU tomorrow. They have less mound depth than FAU.
2-bid league at the minimum. 3 if a non-USM/ODU team wins this thing (which looks likely). FAU, Charlotte, or Tech might have an outside shot at the at-large but it's probably a longshot.
USM will have enough pitching to get through a 3rd (Braley) or 4th game (Roberts). We'll be done by the 5th game though unless we can put up 10+ runs.
I have no problem with us bowing out Saturday morning if we can win tomorrow. Need to rest up for next week.
That's such a weak loser's attitude. We want to win the whole thing, period. We'll be in the exact same pitching situation as any other week if we play through Sunday.
To answer the Rice fan's question, it'll be a shootout Saturday if we make it there. Then, I'm assuming we'd throw by committee Sunday.
Sorry, I care a lot more about regionals than the league tourney.

I think the higher seed should be the home team when the teams have been the home team the same # of times.

So you think pitching people through Sunday will burn them out for next Friday? I suppose we shouldn't pitch anyone any other weekend either because the next weekend is coming soon.
Don't get me wrong, I want to be more than ready for Regionals and I don't suggest we throw McCarty again or possibly even Smith. But throwing someone on Sunday isn't going to burn them out for next weekend.

4 days rest will be enough regardless who we toss if we make it to sunday....
these guys are in the late teens/early twenties......
no question, they'll be a whoop'd arse if we play all six.....however, they'll be just fine by friday....
people read too much into that "rest 'em up" bs....
