Sam and I are Facebook friends. Medicine Man was a walk-on Tiger DB in '77 before he became the Memphis State de facto mascot. He's the one who sent me this picture. He's #28 between the late Bill Crumby and Bob Orians. Has Jarvis changed any? 05-stirthepot

Great memories. That first Little Rock game in old Barton Coliseum against Sutton's guys was a battle. There was an obese Hog fan heckling James Bradley at court side. Any REAL Tiger fan who knows Bradley and Melrose Basketball history also knows this was a major mistake. As the Tigers exited the court at halftime, Bradley dropped a big hocker right in the guy's chest. I'd love to see the new series away games played in Verizon Arena instead of Bud Walton. Might even run into an old poster from here.

That will not happen, LR is about to lose the rest of their football games that Arkansas plays there with the new NEZ expansion at Fayetteville.

For the record, I have always advocated that Ole Miss, Mistake, Tenn and Arkansas should work together and rotate football home and homes for basketball games with Memphis where Memphis has at least one home game and one road a year with an SEC school a year in football and two of each in Basketball.

Playing ARk, TN and OM will be a huge mistake unless FB game is played. Todd day, Corey beck and Dwight Stewart-look them up.

Here's they deal, when Nolan started landing Memphis kids, Arkansas wasn't playing Memphis. The only notable, really high profile player I think Arkansas landed after they started playing was Marlon Townes and he never lived up to the billing.

Beck and Stewart were Juco kids that fit Nolan's system to a T, a Nolan specialty. Huery and Day were signed before the series was renewed.

it has nothing to do with that. I would prefer that Memphis gives home-home basketball contracts to SEC schools who give us home-home football contracts.

Mizzou and Miss State have given us home-home football deals in the next few seasons...we should FIRST offer them home-home basketball contracts.

simple and fair.

RE: Memphis & Arkansas to resume series
People have asked why the football team hasn't done more to schedule Vanderbilt, Purdue, Kansas, etc. on the football field. From what I can tell Arkansas is the middling, unimpressive version of some of those teams that would be perfect for the Tigers to pick off:

Seems like a perfect mix of local interest, P5 SEC interest, and winnable game. Good call Tubby.

Sam was a trip. Very enjoyable in my early days. Thought he had passed - good to know he's still kicking.

Jarbo is an ageless wonder.
