In the 13 years he's been at Auburn and ECU, he has finished in the top-3 of the conference one time and finished with a winning record in conference twice. He's one game under .500 between the two (even worse if you eliminate non-D-I games) and is 41-57 (16-38) over the past three years.

I just don't get it. Even if he may have elevated the program a little (because I know ECU was terrible), hasn't he kind of shown his ceiling? Wouldn't you want to bring in another guy who has a chance of elevating it a little more? Are they so worried about going 10-20 instead of 14-16 that they don't want to give it a shot?

I don't get it either but the ECUites love him. At ECU he is 114-118 overall and is 43-75 in conference. His highest finish in conference was in 12-13 when ECU was 4th. Since at ECU he has finished:

CUSA
10-11 T 7th
11-12 10th
12-13 T-4th
13-14 12th

AAC
14-15 T 7th
15-16 T 9th
16-17 9th

So if my math is correct then Lebo is averaging finishing coming in 8th place in conference. Truthfully I hope he is an ECU Lifer.

Ok. I have got to clear the air about LeBlow. First of all out of 50,000 fans you may find 3 that like LeBlow. Just do a search on the AAC forum and ecu.247sports forum and you will see page after page of disgust for the guy. Some asked why we still have him? Its because our nutless leader of an AD will not fire him. For the past 2 years he claims he sees potential in LeBlow but it doesn't show on the scoreboard. We have lost a big number of transfers because they don't what to keep throwing water out of a sinking ship and stay aboard. The contract extension that was given to him a few years back really put us in a bind because we can't afford to buy him out and hire another coach. Trust and believe there is no love for him in Greenville other than the man crush our AD has on him.

Replace Greenville with Hattiesburg and that sums up many fans from USM's thoughts on our current basketball coach and our thankfully now former AD.

Great question. It isn't related to our coaches, ADs, or sanctions last few years... it is a cash flow problem. This facility is used for a lot more than just basketball events. There are more reasons to upgrade it than having a good basketball program. We just don't have the money.

The big holdup is the logo change. The logo in the artist renderings is no longer the current logo, and it is taking quite awhile to get that corrected. Once that is corrected, construction upgrades should happen quickly. Or not. 03-hissyfit

USM-Memphis used to be one of the premier basketball series in the old Cusa. Some really great games with lots of Memphis fans traveling down to Hattiesburg.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but can we not somehow tack the basketball arena costs onto tuition? I mean, if you tell a kid "we're increasing athletic fees $500 / semester" they might balk at that, but anyone with two good eyes has to realize that RGC is an eyesore. I think a temporary increase in fees to rectify the obvious problem is something that people might actually be able to get behind.

The modern student may fight this. It's been an issue at a number of other G5 schools. So Miss has a better culture than those programs, but the optics of this at a time where contraction is a theme at many universities may not be a good idea.
