USM Rare Next Step
I have one of the old World Series t shirts from 09. Proud to have our logo next to a small group of schools that include Texas, UNC, LSU, etc.... Looking at our D1 #11 ranking this morning is a nice flashback. One trip to Omaha is unique, a second trip means more to our university than one can imagine. Expecting 4 in a row this week is not a given nor should it be. Just find a way to win the tournament. This is rare air for USM to be in a position of national respect in any type of division 1 program. With both skill and luck in play, if we find a way to make it back to Omaha within 8 years we will have taken the same first critical steps programs like Louisville and TCU have recently taken in baseball and become a truly recognized national player, not just another decent, respected program. Make no mistake, I'm not saying we are at the same level of Louisville or TCU, but the hardest part, the foundation, will be a solid one to build on with 2 appearances in 8 years. It will take USM to a higher national level, separating us from the solid, not great programs that liter the baseball landscape like ECU, USA, Houston, etc... Tulane is the most recent example I can think of where they had the same small window of success, but failed to build on it. Hopefully we can learn from similar examples and look at what TCU is doing to keep the momentum going. One game at a time.

We just have to win 1 game at a time. Cliche, we all know but it's true. It's hard to beat a team 4 TIMES in a row. UTSA is gonna be a tough game wed.

Anyone know who we're pitching Wednesday? I originally thought Braley, but have decided that won't happen. They're gonna make sure we keep him fresh in the batting order and he apparently needs rest after pitching a game.

You have to be consistent at doing what we've done to improve recruiting. State made Finals and OM was in CWS a few years ago. Unless you consistently show up in Supers, improving won't improve recruiting dramatically.

Some are counting chickens before they hatch and some are smashing the eggs with sledgehammers before they get a chance. We have the full gamut of "fans" here.

Why not? This is the greatest team ever assembled since Doubleday invented the game.

You believe everything Spalding says? The Indian guy running the counter at 7-11 respectfully disagrees with you.......

Fine. This is the greatest team since Spalding invented Indians then.
