Agreed...I like the variety. If a thread doesn't interest me I don't read it. However, I do like to read about topics involving schools/sports large to small.

I don't think we need to split. I think it's silly to try and separate the P5 from the rest of college athletics. The idea that it's too hard to moderate is silly.

The fact that CS/CR has only P5 mods should show you how the composition of the board has changed in just a year or two. Moderation will now become relevant to issues. Many times I know I can't distinguish between what is or is not trolling among the G5 because familiarity with rifts between G5 schools just aren't as apparent to me. I can spot them fairly clearly when they are involved between schools of which I am familiar. Even then that is why we have a PAC mod, two Big 10 mods, a Big 12 mod and an SEC mod here. An ACC mod would be nice too.

I've talked about this in the past in the Spin Room and it applies here. The issues with moderators being accused of bias is self-inflicted.

One of the messages boards I used to moderate on the mods were listed as Mod1, Mod2, Mod3, etc. instead of their regular name. Unless "WestCentralTechnicalStateFan2001" told you that he was a moderator then no one would know. Hard for someone to claim bias if they don't know which poster they are dealing with.

There is absolutely no good reason why posters on this or any board need to know who among their number is a moderator, and quite frankly the fact that people do know is a disservice to you and everybody else who volunteers to serve in the position.

And the idea that we need a mod from each individual conference, subset, etc. is BS as well. Last time I checked the rules were the rules and they should be applied evenly. If the three best people are all fans of one school then that's who you need to select, not conference "affirmative action".

I just saw this, I enjoyed the intermingling of folks from all schools on here. It was the only board like it. Do We really need the seperation. G5 and P5 posters all have great ideas and contribute equally.

I think there should be a committee created to select the 4 most important threads to move to the new forum. There should also be "access" threads for threads about significant, highly paid conferences. Additionally, the very best G5 thread should also move to the new forum.

I don't like the idea of further dividing the P5s from the G5s. It sends the message that the G5s occupy a lower division in college football. Say it ain't so, GTS.

So does anyone know where the P5 threads are at the moment?

I was enjoying a discourse on the "would the Big Ten welcome OU?" thread and now I can't find it.

The best thing about this board is that you have posters of all teams stopping through here; P5, BB schools, G5, FCS, Hockey schools, DII.

The boards wouldn't be as strong if divided up.

The answer is to recruit more mods, some G5 mods and FCS mods for it to share the workload. Splitting the board is going to kill it, one of the few solid sports boards remaining around.

Having followed the "conference realignment" board for awhile, hasn't the majority of the realignment talk been realignment between the two? And in other times is where the fanbases meet (a good thing in my opinion)? Separating is tantamount to just shutting it down.

It's the only way to filter content until Aurora is around. When Aurora is launched, we might be able to merge them back in together with subtopics ... basically a way to filter a board for specific stuff. But with my work elsewhere on the site (cleaning up MT.org etc) Aurora is probably going to be delayed a fair bit, so this is a prudent move for now IMO.

I think it's a ridiculous idea. This is one of the best boards around, even with the warts.

I'm willing to serve because I don't carry so much of the load on my site these days.
However for the sake of clarity I want to understand if I am interpreting the change correctly.
This is the current list of topics and the ones I've bolded I am assuming are the only ones that would go to the P5 sub board.
Everything else would be here as "general" or "realignment"

We will move a few P5-related threads to start with, but I don't anticipate that moving threads around will need to be a big time-consuming thing after that. Nearly all of the posters here are pretty good about posting on the appropriate board among the many CSNbbs boards that are already active.

Well how about membership fees...
$365.00 per year per conference of your choice
An additional $365.00 if I want to view another conference and so on
Or GTS can ask ESPN to get involved, can you imagine espn paying certain posters more than others, now were talking
I come here mainly to read the adds lots of good national adds, not just the local dating adds, I think the add space is to small, needs to be twice the current add space

I strongly disagree. There should be championships among the different categories of G5 threads, and the very best among the G5 thread category champions should move to the new forum.

I think the board is fine the way it is.

There is a good mix of posters from P5, G5, and other schools here. We have good discussion regarding alignment, realignment, and the general business of college sports. I find it interesting.

There is too much separation of the P5 from everyone else on the playing field. We don't need that here. No matter our allegiance, we love the game, and can talk about it here, usually in a civil manner.

What happens in the P5 (especially the inevitable breakup of the Big 12) will eventually affect all of the other schools.

If more moderators are needed, they can be added.

the thing we saw even this year was when something happens P5, it trickles down to impact everyone. Big 12 doesn't expand... AAC then picks up Wichita. MVC picks up Valpo. Horizon probably will make a move.
