Maybe splitting along general sports discussion and realignment/movement is a better dividing line. IMO, the labels of G5 and P5 generate a ton of baggage.

Splitting on P5 and G5 is a bad idea IMO. We are actually a single subdivision, FBS, and there ought to be at least one place where De Jure beats De Facto and discussions about F-B-S can take place.

FBS.

Agree completely with this. I echo the sentiments in this thread that splitting along G5/P5 is a bad idea.

I only skimmed the thread so I may have missed some key info, but the P5 board will either attract more P5 posters and thrive or become yet another low volume/inactive forum on this site. The majority of posts on this board and a considerable amount of activity on the site is non P5. People go where the activity is. The AAC board attracts readers and posters from all conferences. When someone gets snippy about non-AAC posters, quite a few have responded with something like "I read/post here because of the activity and info posted." The same will prove true with any new boards, people will follow activity and info. I could better understand ruffled feathers if the reverse were true and there were predominantly P5 threads on this board and the powers that be announced a split, but that's not the case. It'll either attract more like minded posters and be a viable place to discuss P5 issues or it won't. Based on current volume alone, the other sub forum shouldn't have a problem with activity and as with anything else if it is more active, then more eyeballs will follow, be they P5, G5, DI, FCS and whoever else I'm missing (apologies for that).

I am more of an inclusion than splitting everything apart. We should blame ESPN for making the split to happen. Maybe the NCAA should go the way of the Pros for tv rights? Collective bargaining for all D1 schools for all sports.

Oh, I do blame ESPN for the split.

Just my two cents, but I prefer the board stay the same as well. Not a frequent poster but I like coming here and hearing all perspectives.
