NHL Vs. NBA Playoffs
Literally 1 out of every 3 basketball games have been close, and almost all of the hockey games have. Even if you aren't into hockey, you should check it out, it has been amazing.

The NHL has the best playoffs of all the major sports.

RE: NHL Vs. NBA Playoffs
There are basically only like 3-4 teams that have any kind of real shot with the NBA . Cavs/Warriors finals has pretty much been set since October. So boring

Uuuuh I would say that 95% of American sports fan would disagree with you seeing as how the NFL playoffs is the biggest draw of all the sports

Pro tip - trying to establish a floundering brand by tearing down an established one is not a good look.

NBA playoffs are pretty boring if the Grizzlies aren't playing or you aren't watching the finals. But, for me, that's a product of the league being so top-heavy. The NHL playoffs have been amazing, but that is probably because my team is still playing. For those who have never really watched hockey playoffs, check out the next Preds home game...it's pretty amazing to experience the atmosphere.

You can win 3 games to win the Super Bowl. You have to win 16 games to win either the NHL or NBA title. Unlike the NBA which is a joke until the final, which will probably be really good.

In basketball you see guys standing around on offense and jogging back at half speed on defense all the time. You never see that in hockey and 90% of the games are super competitive.

In the Final Four of the NBA 5 games out of 7 had a margin of more than 10 points, in the round before 17 games out of 21 had a margin of over 10 points.

In the Final Four of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, 9 out of 11 games have been settled by 1 goal or were within 1 goal with 3 minutes left in the game and in the playoffs 26 games have gone into overtime.

Playoff hockey has always been exciting and fun. I tune in.

Ratings are just awful though, all the same.

It's almost as if hockey is a niche, regional sport in this country.

RE: NHL Vs. NBA Playoffs
Like Alonso said, fine to like both.

NBA playoff ratings have been very good this year, and another Cavs-Warriors finals will have huge ratings.

The games over 10 points is misleading, IMO. Like Game 1 of Spurs-Warriors, Spurs lost by 12, but had a 25 point lead during game in Oakland, and then Kawhi got hurt. Still a very exciting game. Versus Rockets, Spurs lost game 1 at home 27 points. Pop makes his adjustments, and Spurs win the series in 6.

Cavs beat Boston by 44 points in Game 2 in Boston, and then lose Game 3 at home, despite Boston not having their 29 PPG star, Isaiah Thomas. The unpredictability is interesting.

Closer games would help, but NBA playoffs have still been good, but not great, IMO.

Both sports, along with baseball...almost completely different playoffs from regular seasons.

Football much less so, although intensity there also picks up, just does not need to pick up as much.

RE: NHL Vs. NBA Playoffs
Having your favorite team in the hunt will bring excitement to any sport, playoffs especially. I think because hockey is such a low scoring game, every time the puck is centered in front of the net the outcome of the game could hang in the balance. That makes it exciting for me. Whether your team is in the offensive zone or defending their own net the potential for a game changing play looms large. When it happens, it's instantaneous and your teams chance at winning the game takes a complete turn.

I've turned into a hockey fan. Now if I could just learn all the damn rules!

Say what you want about excitement level, but the ratings will tell the story that matters most. And that story is that there is exponentially more people watching the NBA playoffs.

The NBA Finals will be absurd, btw.

Hockey is a great sport. When I was in college, a friend invited me to spend part of Christmas break with him in New York. He had an uncle who worked in management at Madison Square Garden, so he could always get tickets to events. We went to a Knicks game one night, then a Rangers game the next night. It was my first time ever going to a hockey game, and I was very impressed with the sport. It was a 2-2 tie, but it was more exciting than the Knicks game, even with Patrick Ewing scoring 40+ points. However, I think I only saw one goal scored. I swear I would look away for a second and boom a goal would be scored.

I am a hockey neophyte, but learning slowly to appreciate the game. I watched most of the Pittsburg/Ottawa game and look forward to the Preds series.
