Important article for anyone evaluating Comey's credibility. Makes Comey look really opportunistic and deceitful for his actions in 2004 and 2007. He at the time conspired with the Democrats to make Alberto Gonzalez look bad and blatantly lied according to Gonzalez.

Now the article notes that Gonzalez might have lied when he told his side in 2016. But it also means W. lied in his book about another part of the story. Gonzalez's story, however, just fits with all of Comey's actions.

Article discusses Comey's role in the re-authorization of Stellar Wind, the NSA spying program, in 2004 and the hearings on the 2007 attorney firings.

They were talking about this during my morning drive. According to the way things played out. Comey and Muller did a great service to the American people when Bush and company tried to expand the NSA program to spy on Americans.

Whether you agree that the program was bad or not, Comey's deceit in the matter reflects on his character. He had his Alexander Haig, "I'm in charge moment," without telling anyone.

Now there are two sides to what happened at the Ashcroft meeting, but its pretty clear he did go behind people's backs. He's the type of poison you never want working in your organization.

And on both sides of the aisle, there seem to be a lot of poisonous people in Washington who really need to be cleared out.

I disagree. He clearly was loyal to Ashcroft at the time and rightly so since he was working for him.

He has made his mistakes but in this case, he did the right thing.
