Conservatives begin to whisper: President Pence
http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/17...ump-238525

Quote:Not since the release of the Access Hollywood tape, in which Donald Trump bragged about groping women by the genitals, have some conservatives thought so seriously, if a bit wistfully, about two words: President Pence.

The scandals clouding Trump’s presidency — including, most recently, his firing of FBI Director James Comey, his alleged leak of classified information to Russian officials, and reports that he urged Comey to drop an investigation into a top aide — have raised once more the possibility that Trump could be pushed aside and replaced by Vice President Mike Pence.

“If what the [New York Times] reported is true, Pence is probably rehearsing,” one House Republican who asked not to be named quipped Wednesday. “It’s just like Nixon. From the standpoint that it’s never the underlying issue, it is always the cover-up.”

I mean let's be real -- even if Trump really is innocent, and hasn't done anything illegal as POTUS -- he's too much change, too fast.

He acts too unpresidential.

I recognize that Pence will likely be able to get much more done, in the sense of advancing the conservative agenda. But at least he'll act presidential.

3.5 years of Pence, starting this year, will be plenty

Was the choice of Americans, by vote.

And would not have become the first ever celebrity-POTUS, to be removed from office before the end of the first year.

Oh well

Pence, the 11 1/2 year Presidency and a 9-0 conservative Supreme Court. Yowzer!

Cant' happen, LeFlaneur, even in that hypothetical.

Most that can be done by a VP that takes over the office is 10 years. If he takes office before half of a sitting president's term is up, it's considered a "full term of 2+ years" per law of the land.

2 years + 2 elections = 10 years.

I stand corrected. I was thinking about the "only 2 elected terms" part. That also would mean that Trump doesn't go before Jan 21, 2019. So a 7 year (+ or -) is more likely.

The only people whispering that are those that have been talking to themselves since November 9.

IT wouldn't surprise me if Pence is counting the days down. Maybe he was playing 4D chess when he took the VP role.

and you know who still losses? wacko liberals. Let Trump stir the pot, tackle controversial legislation, squabble with the press, piss off the left wing. All the while the conservative agenda gets moved forward with VP Pence waiting in the wings for his 8 years and enough SC nominations that the country will be moved back to the right where it belongs for the next 2 generations.

The last thing I want is for Trump to resign and for Pence to become president.

I think what is more likely is that Flynn and Manaford will go to jail and Trump will get a slap on the hand for dragging his feet on the investigation.

He will remain as a lame duck and the Democrats will regain the Senate.

No, he's saying that Pence's 3.5 year take-over of Trump's first term only goes in the record book as "2+ years" of service.

That is a possibility. I hope the DNC can get their stuff together, and find a good enough candidate to prevent that nightmare from becoming a reality!
