RE: Official Liberty and Troy sign H/H
Why is everything Liberty news on these boards?
Any other threads for small schools scheduling?

Exactly
Nothing against Liberty at all but do we need a thread telling us about every new game they sign?

RE: Official Liberty and Troy sign H/H
There are three threads that already discuss Liberty's scheduling on this board. We don't need another one. Instead, updates should be shared on one of the other threads. Even at that, every time Liberty breathes or blinks, we don't need an update. I have nothing against Liberty, but the "College Sports and Conference Realignment" board is not for everything Liberty, just as it isn't for everything *insert any other program here* either.
** CORRECTION: on this board's first page, there are six threads alone about Liberty **

A lot of people either love or hate Liberty, which leads me to believe they will have a successful tenure as an independent, along the lines of BYU. People want to hear what is going on there.

This board was changed to (college sports) because it's the general topics board of the site. And if you want to be technical Liberty is realigning to FBS and building their schedule is part of the process.
If it bothers you don't read it.....I see no basis for people to not be allowed to make posts. Again, I'm in the crowd that likes them because I think they will be the next BYU soon.

Ehh, I'm ok with it because it reflects their ability as a soon to be FBS independent to schedule games. It's important.

They don't need a thread for every game they book. Did we have one of those for Georgia Southern? No. Did we have one for App State? No. If the evangelicals want to slobber over Liberty they can keep it contained to a single thread.

Dude it's more about scheduling as an independent now days. A few years ago there were almost no independent schools left now Liberty is showing you can make it as an Indy. The real story is when a school like Notre Dame or BYU make the playoff as an independent

Army is historically a independent team and has no issue scheduling. UMass has gotten threads on their series.

Army no, because long time Indy Army has no issues scheduling.
UMASS, yes, there is a thread on UMASS with scheduling updates. A UMASS fan named Steve started it I believe. Nice guy.

The other thing to consider is that Liberty is the first school to move up to be an FBS independent, which makes them a potential bellwether for other would-be FBS schools that might consider going indy instead of waiting for a conference invite. Liberty's path may not be applicable for many other schools — or possibly any other schools—but how they handle the transition and whether they can do it consistently is going to be interesting to observe and is at least tangentially, if not directly, a conference realignment issue.

It cracked me up because the rest of his speech was about taking on existing power structures and not giving up. But Auburn? I don't know Jerry.

Generally speaking have posted everything in the single UMass Football thread, which is getting long at the tooth. May start a new thread after June 30 as UMass 2017-18, since we are in play and need a conference home.

RE: Official Liberty and Troy sign H/H
They intriguing part about Liberty is the fact that they are not like UMASS or any other move up we have seen in a long time.
They have the desire, they have the students, and they have the money to compete with the best. People like to see a Cinderella story and Liberty is just that.
I mean really, a team that every conference has shunned is battling against the odds and making their own way. I'm actually starting to become a Liberty fan myself to be honest.
