Ryan Cole at NCAA Golf Regional
Haven't seen anyone discussing this but Ryan Cole continues to represent JMU men's golf well on the national stage. After two rounds he's +10 and tied for 54th, and had a great round yesterday apart from a quad-bogey (we've all been there) on his 17th hole. He'll have to have a stellar round today to advance out of the regional, so good luck to him and GO DUKES!

You can follow his round here: http://scoring.golfstatresults.com/publi...&tid=12646

Thanks. And, good luck to Ryan. I was following his round online yesterday.

We can all relate indeed to taking a 7 on a par 3. Happened to me just the other day in fact. That windmill hole is a beyatch.

I believe he has a conditional exemption on Canadian Tour and will be going to Web.com Q school in fall.

Jay Woodson also has conditional exempt status on the Canadian tour for the first 8 events. First tourney is June 1-4.

There are some really silly interpretations of the rules of golf. I love the game by can't understand why the rules require a player or caddie to jump into a pond after dropping their ball accidentally into water.

Agree that situation was crazy but the rule stems from having to complete the hole with the same ball you started with so players can't drive/approach with one type of ball and putt with another.

The situation is unfortunate and the rules of golf are ridiculous, but I'm not in favor of legislating for every possible situation. In the rest of our lives we will never see another guy accidentally drop his ball off the back of his shoe into a hazard.

There is a whole discussion possible about decreasing chances for error by putting out (this guy, Lexi Thomas, etc).

The link above has a video of it happening last year at the Player's championship.

Stand corrected. Still about a 1 in 10M chance of it happening.

(100 golfers playing 30 events per year across 4 tours over the last 30 years)
